Left Midfield - been a problem for far too long

Recommended Posts

This should have been addressed long before now - 3 or 4 seasons of trying to shoehorn in players out of position or ill suited , yes we need cover in other positions but this mis management of left mid continues to bite us , Of the current personnel it looks like Wilde should be given a try out ,at least in th CIS cup game - we need balance/symmetry through the team - players to be played in their natural positions.

Ness looked good on his left side yesterday?

If we did not go out and buy centre midfielders and strikers then we might have some money to buy a good LW. But as long as Walter Smith is here we will see Whittaker, Weiss, Lafferty, Fleck... out left. In fact I can see Ness being played out there in the near future.

We had Salim Kerkar on trial for over a month. He's a left sided player so why is he not getting a run out? Maybe we are grroming him as the next LB. The only Player IMO who has the ability to play LW is Gregg Wylde but he won't be getting a sustained run anytime soon.

A midfield like this has good balance and creativity to it but will never be tried out because there are certain players who will never be dropped;

Naismith---Davis---Ness---Wylde

greg wylde should be playing, he`s a winger with speed who`s willing to hit the bye-line and whip in a cross....

weiss is failing at left midfield, fleck shouldn`t play there just because he`s got a left foot

wylde deserves his chance, hell everybody else has had a shot there

We play a weakened team against Killie and we will get humped. They are flying.

The OP is correct, the left hand side of midfield is a position Walter has failed to fill since he arrived 4 years ago. Its embarrassing how many players he has shoe horned there and who have failed, mostly because they are not left midfielders!

Doubt it will be addressed this season either.

No! That would be Charlie Adam all over again.

Wylde is the only player who is a natural in that position and I doubt he will get many games as Walter has used Lafferty, Weiss, Naismith and Whittaker all as left wingers.

Wylde would have been good on the left against Wilson, on the end of Ness' great ranging passes. Whitts never had the pace to catch them.

---------Davis Ness------------

Weiss---------------------Wylde

--------Miller Naismith--------

or

---------Davis Ness-----------

Weiss----------------Naismith

-------Miller Jelavic--------

I would like to see.
