So since Sunday and before, everyone over various threads shares their input how they would do things, or pick someone in various scenarios we've witnessed. So I thought I'd share how I'd use our current squad, based on no injuries etc. It's your squad, your tactics, how do you play? I do play FM - as many do and are criticised for making comments based on too much FM! So lets see a bit of detail and see what everyone would do.

Domestically (that doesn't include vs the tims), I'd line up like this

McGregor

Broadfoot Bougherra Bartley Papac

Whittaker Davis Ness Naismith

Diouf Jelavic

Alexander

Foster

Weir

Weiss

McCulloch

Edu

Lafferty

Defence - My thinking behind having Broadfoot at RB is not only to free Whitty to play in midfield but to allow Boughy more freedom to gallop down the right/left and overlap Whitty/Davis/Naisy, at which point Kirky/Sasa can tuck in without and prevemt us being exposed as well as maximising Boughys attacking ability. Also Bartley in favour of Weir, I know we haven't seen him yet, but I'm making an uninformed decision that he will be far more mobile than Davie as well as being defensively sound.

Midfield - At first look it shows Whitty at RM, Dayvo at CM and Naisy at LM. I would have all of these three inter-changeable, allow them to roam and swap positions in attack to keep things fresh and the opposition guessing. That shouldn't leave us open to counters from the opposition as there will always be someone in any position.

Attack - Jelavic a target man with Diouf able to roam anywhere in the pitch, Midfield can run on past him with 1-2's etc.

Bench - Plenty of options there.

vs the tims or a European option

Mcgregor

Broadfoot Bougherra Papac Whittaker

Davis McCulloch Ness

Naismith ------------------- Diouf

Jelavic

Alexander

Foster

Bartley

Edu

Weiss

Lafferty

Healy

Defence - Be a more solid and less adventurous backline, with Boughy less freedom to go galloping down the flanks. Whitty and Papac can still push on but not always at the same time if there's two opposing strikers.

Midfield - The three can become a five in defence, with wide pair tucking in allowing us to pack the midfeild. A midfeild three that can be very combative without losing composed passers and players of the ball. In attack Davis and Ness can both press on and link up with Jelly and wide pairing. I do like a holding midfield players in these games and think Jig is the best for that (tin-hat moment).

Attack - pretty self explanatory, Jelavic the target man and doing the role we tried to get Kenny to do in Europe this season. Wide pair can pull wide and create room for midfield three to push on on the counter.

Bench - again, plenty of options.

In the SPL:

McGregor

Whittaker Bougherra Bartley Papac

Davis Edu Ness

Weiss Jelavic Diouf

In Europe (would not be a priority for me):

McGregor

Whittaker Bougherra Bartley Papac

Edu

Weiss Davis Ness Diouf

Naismith

Mcgregor

whittaker bougherra Bartley Papac

weiss davis© ness diouf

healy jelavic

will never see this though. when broadband's fit again i'd put him in place of whittaker who IMO has been nothing short of terrible this season.

with this sort of set up, you just tell the defence to do that and that alone - defend high up the pitch when we're on the attack, but we don't need them going forward to assist.

Don't play FM but i would go with

...........................McGregor.........................

Whittaker...........Bougherra.......Bartley..........Wylde

Diouf..............Davis..........Ness............Naismith

.................Heally/Lafferty.......Jelavic

Pace,Power,Youth,Experience and our best 11 in my opinion.....Fleck,Hutton and Weiss could argue but i would stick with this 11

My tuppence worth is:-

McGregor.

Whittaker Bougherra Weir Papac

Weiss Davis Naismith Ness Diouf

Jelavic

I'd play Naismith in the middle for his work rate and bite and Davis and Ness can cover in behind if he bombs on to link with Jelavic..also Weiss and Diouf can switch wings and give the opposing full backs lots to think about.

Everyone fit and on form

McGregor

Whittaker Bougherra Weir Papac

Weiss Davis Ness Diouf

Jelavic Naismith

Altho ideally Weir and Papac would have suitable replacements. If Bartley does well I'd drop Weir in a flash and I'd love to see Wylde replace Papac.

Don't have Football Manager.

Broadfoot is still injured or I'd have him at right-back, as Foster and Whittaker are rotten!

McGregor

Whittaker Bougherra Bartley Papac

Weiss Davis Ness Diouf

Jelavic Healy

What surprises me about some of these selections is the inclusion of Weir this guy has been a good servant but has now gone away past his best playing a guy at 40 years of age it would laughable if it wasnt so fucking sad.

It may be sad but who do we have who is better. Ness is already getting criticized for things he can't do yet - so are you really going to stick someone from the youths or an unknown lone signing in the center of our defence. I don't think it's a coincidence that whoever plays next to Weir looks comfortable until they get their big move and end up playing at R or L fullback instead.

Fleck

Diouf jealvic

Might look fucked up because on my phone but 4-3-1-2. Attacking line up but one that would do well imo

Europe (this season )

Mcgregor

Broadfoot bougherra bartly papac

Maismith davis ness hutton diouf

Weiss

4-5-1 , still quite attacking replaced fleck with hutton because we need someone big in there to tackle. Weiss upfont because he has the ability to hold the ball up and the pace to run about

Don't see a lot of people agreeing with this haha

Same for me. When Naismith comes back i would put him in for Healy or weiss.

5 players constantly in the opponents half pressing and playing a high temop, dont even let the opponents out of their half

imo that team there would have beat the tims last sunday, barring individual errors of course
