Walter Smith

No one anticipated the changes Walter made for today - seems he may still have a trick or two left in his armoury. No enforced changes just tactical.

News of our capitualation on 3 fronts may have been premature

It was Motherwell at Ibrox ffs

If this thread had started next Sunday afternoon after us humping the bheasts then, i would be with you, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

 If it had been a draw or lose we would have had plenty of threads of people saying how he had lost it - this is our biggest win in a while and so he deserves some praise for both revamping the team and also some acknowledgement that he picked a team and formation no one on here predicted prior tpo the information leaking.

no enforced changes?

mcculloch is now out for the season, and bartley came into the middle, smith also said that he was having to move davis into the middle because of a lack of experience in that part of the pitch

to me thats 2 enforced changes, changes that would not have been made if mcculloch was fit

the team and management done well, but circumstances forced us to do well

And rightly so.

Some praise, yes of course, but some are going overboard forgetting who it was we were up against. We can only beat what is put in front of us of course, and we dealt with Well very well, credit to the lads for not stopping at 1 goal which we normally do. :D

Ravamping the team? We made 2 changes.

Team and formation, it was 4-3-3/4-5-1, we play it all the time, the team only changed by 1 or 2 players. The difference was this week, a few things, our players attacked from the off, we closed down Motherwell very well, we didnt let them play, and we didnt defend after going 1 up.

Dare i say no Lee McCulloch or Edu in midfield either.

It was more to do with the players and possibly coaches attitudes than different team and formations. Something ive been harping on about for months with this squad and management team. When our attitude is right, we can take any team. We are a good team and we have good players, our strength is not defending like it was in 08, its attacking! :21:

Dont take it personally Pete, i didnt mean to have a go at you, sorry if it sounded that way, its only 1 game, our best game in a while, lets hope the lads can keep it up.

People will refuse to give him credit when we play well and behave like spoilt children when we get beaten.....ask yourself what is there motivation....i think we all know what drives people like the poster above....

You talking about me ya trouble making prick? Your the worst of the lot, going out of your way to argue with fellow Bears.

Bullied at school, its a cert!

McCulloch was out already - couple of games now - He droped Ness and Edu - and revamped the midfield and got a good reaction and result - all signs to me of a good manager - despite a number of people questioning his ability last week. These changes were not forced on him. (Oh and if McCulloch had been fit I would have been happy with him in).

I suppose the only question to ask is if Smith would have changed it or not had McCulloch been fit.

Pretty sure most people would agree that we've struggled over the past few weeks, so the only question is whether he would have willingly changed the starting XI to the one we started with yesterday to freshen things up.

Regardless, no point in dwelling on yesterday. It'll only be worthwhile if we learn from it and build on it.
