disgruntled_bear 157
A lot of strong opinions getting thrown about tonight's performance on the park and rightly so. The question is if something major has to change, and personally it does. Does it start with our captain David Weir or is it other area's in the park that need to be addressed? Muff 245
Nowhere near the worst player on the park. Yes, he should be dropped IMO, means fcuk all though. Not the only one, there are one or two who should be binned!
Scott-RFC 308
I think we can afford to go 442 against them or anyone with Bougherra and Bartley at the backHes not even a captain who does a lot of talking on the field, so I dont see a need for him to start games
skinnymate1690 773
if he were to be dropped to play more attacking football then yes but if its still to play the same shite then there is no point in dropping him because he is fine when we sit deep
AGM_72 4,027
He should be, because we compensate too much when we play him. I hope now that Hutton has returned to fitness we'll see him instead of Edu, because Edu has been awful recently. I won't hold my breath though. delamonty 992
Thought Davie was ok tonight. Was expecting far worse from him. I'd drop him though for Bartley. In a heartbeat. Won;t happen. So drop Mr "Bad Attitude" Bougherra. A disgrace to grab the refs hand to put a card back in his pocket. The Rangers should not tolerate that kind of behaviour. And his half hearted 'clearance'?So.. drop 'Magic'.... Big Kyle in his place. While we're at it... Drop Davis and Edu. When is Ness fit?

Millsyrfc1 13
It was like the weir of the past 2 season's tonight but IMO it would benefit the team if he were dropped so we can play the manky mob with a 4-4-1-1 or a dare say a 4-4-2 ! we compensate for the lack of pace to much now and heshould be benched for games like tonight and if walter wanted to play 5 at the back why not do what he did in europe but with weir dropping out for bartley ? it's all in hindsight now but I suppose. disgruntled_bear 157
The thing is Muff, we play him we need to cover him. So rightly or wrongly it starts with him first, then other area's start to be focused on.You're right certain individuals, like Steven Davis for instance need a kick up the arse. But it is no consequence his performance seem to be better at the weekend, when Weir was out the side and he was handed the captains armband.
Guest SandyWATP
Bougherra and Bartley at the back. There is no need for Weir, apart from to fill up the bench.
Davie2909 21
He wasnt the worst player on the park tonight for us but we play far too deep with him on the park. IMO we should be dropping Whittaker, Weir and Edu they are stinkin and costing us games now.

Caddy 7
I think it depends on the team. Weir can't cut it against any decent team. This was obvious in the last few OFs and against Sporting. We have to sit too far back and give him too much extra cover which means we can't attack. Against some of the lesser teams at the lower side of the league, Weir can hold his own. Anybody with pace on the opposing team rips him apart though. It happened a couple of times tonight, but luckily it never lead to any goals.I'm just glad it's his final season though. He has been fantastic for us in the past, but he's over the hill now.
delamonty 992
The thing is Bears.. He won't be dropped. And that is why my respect for Davie is dwindling. We all know Walter is loyal. But as a professional, as a man, Davie knows he isn't doing the biz anymore. He should have the courage, the class, to go the the gaffer and say... "I'll make it easy for you... I will cede my place..."
brissybear 50
DG you have big Davie in your sights these days.Yes, you are entirley correct. We have 2 of the most athletic, relatively quick CH's in the league in Kyle and Boogie. We are now entering the business end of the season..we need to gte a settled side and a settled way of playing. There is way too much overpriced dross in the team, I include Naismith and Whittaker in this along with Edu. I shudder when I think of what we paid for them all.It is essential taht we have Weiss and Jelavic bakc. Its time to give Healy a run, swap him around with Diouff.I like the look of Wylde and Ness although Ness tires way too quickly at this level.Walter is a Rangers legend, but if you take the blue tinted specs off he has been very lucky in the standard of domestic opposition he has came up against.I think our biggest hope is to keep beating the dross in the SPL, but we have some tough away games coming up. To go back to the original point yes, Wier who played okay tonight, was and is the reason we had 5 at the back.

maxwellrfc 6
Yes, Bartley and Bougherra should be our CBs, it would help the team big time cause we wouldn't be needing to cover for Weir all the time.
Redmond7 1,503
I think if Weir was being honest with himself and with the fans, he would retire right now.Having said that, we also need to look at the middle of our midfield because Edu isn't strong enough or skilful enough and Davis needs someone beside him who can be the hard man if you like and let him play. So it's not all just down to Weir, and yet it's also pretty obvious that the whole team is set up to protect him.
