Ready For Derby Showdown

THERE is little doubt the season is reaching a critical stage and we have an opportunity to control our own destiny if we can win Sunday's game against Celtic.

After losing to Dundee United a couple of weeks ago we lost a good advantage but we have since put together five wins in a row and we can get our advantage back again if we win Sunday's game.

The match with United on Tuesday was highly unusual with three red card and penalty decisions but the most important aspect was the victory.

Now we face Celtic and we know that if we can replicate the form we showed against them the last time we played we can win.

I think we played very well in the League Cup final on March 20 and I think we deserved to win the trophy.

Celtic have new management and many new players and there is a freshness about them while we are more settled and have been over the course.

I think Celtic had the upper hand going into the League Cup final but I think we redressed the balance a little bit in the sense that we have shown everyone that we still have the capability of winning.

We are at home on Sunday and we would hope to use that to our advantage.

We will need everybody to play well on Sunday and if you look at the League Cup final I don't think you will find too many who did not play well - if any.

A huge team effort will be required there is no doubt about it.

Celtic have come to Ibrox twice this season and they have achieved one win and one draw so it shows that they will have no fears and that they have the capability of getting a result.

Conversely we won at Celtic Park earlier in the season and then won at Hampden so we now need to make home advantage count.

I don't think there is any doubt that Sunday's match could have a huge influence on the destination of the title.

It will be my last Old Firm game and hopefully my last experience will be one of success.
