Why Celtic-minded lads are Sectarians not Us

Recommended Posts

I'll just name two Prods that made it big for Celtic, Jock Stein and Kenny Dalglish. Be honest, what Scottish born Catholic boy would do/or will do the same for us?

We have been signing foreign Catholics for a while now, Big Amo, Nacho, Mo, many many foreign players (not going to count Burke as he never really bothered his arse in any meaningful way, always injured or posted missing for Old Firm engagements). So how can Catholic Scots claim to be not Sectarian until they can claim one ranking player who really made a contribution to Rangers in a massive way. They go on about us not signing a Northern Irish Catholic. Well come on down Mr Invisible? Where are you? More importantly, where is a Catholic born present day Scot who will do a Dalglish.

I would argue that it was Scots who took in the Irish during their time of great need (not the other way around). It has always been Protestants who opened their doors and broke down barriers. (ok, granted Rangers never signed a Catholic for a long time, wrong as it was but that is over, it's not an argument anymore).

If we are to take Scottish Catholic's accusations against us seriously they ought to put their actions as morally high minded angels into practise. Play for Rangers with all their hearts, but no, they will not. They most likely never will. Rangers have taken Catholic boys on and trained them up at Murray Park, schools from across Glasgow are welcomed into Ibrox, but these thankless lads move on the minute they can, to Liverpool or Celtic or wherever.

Rangers have proven they have moved on. They sign great Catholic players because they are great players. Celtic sign anybody and everybody, good on them. But Celtic minded Scottish boys are Sectarian because they can only think of playing for the green and white. My conclusion, they are sectarian, close-minded, and too afraid to break their auld da's heart. Here bhoys, whisper it, yer auld man's a sectarian bigot...

I agree with your conclusion, but that argument is a load of pish. Absolute non-sequitur.

If that logic held true, I'd be a bigot because I'd rather do a handstand and shite on myself than let a Celtic jersey touch me, never mind wear one and contribute to their cause.

That does sound a little bigoted. I'd never shite on myself rather than a bit of material touched me. Many Rangers and Celtic people are like you, I'd just say that more Rangers people can admit it, fewer if any Celtic people would be as honest.
