McGregor wants to stay

ALLAN McGREGOR last night revealed he wants to STAY at Rangers.

The Ibrox No1 has been offered a bumper six-year deal by Gers - as we revealed on Tuesday.

The bumper extension would effectively tie McGregor, 28, to Rangers for the rest of his career. Gers hero Gregsy insists he's NOT the first player who should be tied up long-term.

But he gave Ibrox fans the news they hoped for by admitting he wants to stay put.

He said: "I've still got two years left on my deal so there are players who are a priority before me.

"They need to get sorted out first and then we'll see what happens."

SunSport understands Spanish outfit Villarreal have joined a queue which already includes Sevilla, Aston Villa and Bursaspor chasing McGregor.

But speaking on BBC Alba's Club TV tonight, the Scotland star said: "I love the club and I want to stay but if something happens in the summer then it's outwith my control.

"I love trying to win things for the club. My challenge is to keep winning games and as many trophies as I can."

If he is offered a new contract and he signs it along with a takeover being completed then I can see him staying for a few more years.

But if a bid comes in of around £8m then Ally McCoist has a big decision to make.

Good to hear, but you wonder what would happen if push comes to shove and a bid comes in...

Unless we are talking silly, silly money, like £10 mil plus, we will never get a keeper as good as him for the same cash and it wouldn't be worth it. Hopefully Whyte will recognise this.

They would have to put up big bucks for him considering the length of contract he will get. Personally, I would never sell him. He could play for another decade, he is a born winner, a bluenose and to match it all he is world class. Seroiusly, I wouldnt sell him for less than £15M, people will say he's not worth that and arguably, he isnt, but I think he's worth that if he can play for another 10yr, he's priceless to the club. Money it would cost to replace him Etc... Things are really starting to look up for us now, Naisy tied up long time is a massive bonus as well. If Ness keeps progressing then we could have a solid spine for years to come. its been a tough last couple of years. The end is neigh, just Mr Whyte was around this time last year. we would have stormed this league.

Didnt know that he was a jambo, but nacho wasnt a bluenose neither is weiss or Albertz, but they have turned into good bluenoses. U cant argue with that.

Please don't compare the done practically nothing Wess (and some other club's player) with the likes of Albertz and Novo. That's mad.
