Skysports.com understands Wigan and Rangers have made moves to land highly-rated Spanish striker Toche.

Toche is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Segunda Liga side Cartagena.

The 28-year-old has scored 32 goals in under 60 games for Cartagena and his performances have not gone unnoticed from clubs across Europe.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is believed to have made a personal check on Toche, while Rangers chief Ally McCoist is scouring the transfer market for bargain signings.

Primera Liga outfit Villarreal are thought to have expressed an interest in Toche, while a number of Serie A and Portuguese Liga Sagres sides are believed to be keen on signing the target-man.

However, Toche is thought to favour a move to the UK and is waiting to see what offers come his way this summer.

Dont know if this has been said before, don't have a scooby who he is. On a free so he could be worth a punt, goal every other game in Spain's 2nd division isn't too bad but at 28, is he good enough at that age ?

Youtube video to seal the deal? Never heard of him TBH, but again, good to see we are looking all over the place for talent. But like you said Jordan, at 28 and still in the Spanish second division, is he good enough?

Never heard of him. I wouldn't write him off either as there are a few players who are around his age, playing in lower leagues and attracting interest from bigger clubs; Craig Mackail-Smith being one of them.

Former Cartagena striker Jose Verdu Nicolas, also known as Toche, has emerged as a target for Wigan Athletic as well as Scottish champions Rangers.

The 28-year old has completed his contract at the Spanish Segunda Division club and is currently available as a free agent after scoring more than 30 goals in just over 60 appearances.

skysports.com believes that Latics boss Roberto Martinez has made a personal check on the former Atletico Madrid man who has also been linked with the likes of Rangers and Villarreal plus some clubs in Portugal. Source Prob alot of pish thought i would post anyway.

If even remotely true, I can't see us beating off the interest of the likes of Villarreal, and possibly even Wigan with Premier League football available.
