Rangers Offer Steven Davis A Five-year Deal

Rangers have offered Steven Davis a five-year deal to stay at Ibrox - and Ally McCoist will make a personal plea to the midfielder on Monday.

The new manager has yet to meet with Davis, Steven Whittaker or keeper Allan McGregor on a face-to-face basis since the international trio were granted extra summer leave following their involvement in the Carling Nations Cup at the end of May.

Rangers have tabled five-year contract offers to all three players and McCoist hopes he can persuade them to sign when they return to Murray Park before the pre-season tour in Germany.

Bursaspor were knocked back on no fewer than five occasions in their attempts to reunite Whittaker with Kenny Miller in Turkey.

Now Robert Segal, who represents Northern Irishman Davis, has confirmed to Sportsmail that his client has been offered a new deal like Scotland pair Whittaker and McGregor.

If Davis agrees to the deal, he would be committing his future until 2016 - having first arrived on loan from Fulham in January 2008.

'I've been involved in talks with Rangers over the past couple of weeks,' said Segal.

'It's clear they want Steven to remain at Ibrox for a very long time and are happy with him.

'He's very happy in Glasgow so, hopefully, we can reach agreement on the new contract.'

Davis, 26, has 12 months left on his existing contract, as does Whittaker, and there would be no shortage of interest if he does want to depart Govan.

Finally good news that we are looking at the stronger players instead of the Kerkar's of the team.

Him and Shagger sign, fuck Whittaker he can do what he wants then finally start expanding and improving the squad.

I'm sure they'd love their contract discussion to go ahead on the pitch at Murray Park? Maybe the showers?

It obviously means face to face meetings. I think he had enough to deal with that day, not to mention hours and hours of meetings with 3 separate players.

I was reading on FF a few weeks back that Davis is looking for a school to get one of his weans into.

It came from someone who knows him and his family well and have been spot on about stuff regarding him before. Most people seemed to believe him.
