Hopefully there can be some discussion between the higher powers of the clubs about how we can modernise and use our fantastic facilities as well as Ajax do when ity comes to nurturing talent!

Modernise our facilities?

Can this mean that they are finally going to paint the steps etc. at Ibrox?

Maybe we have some promising artists coming through the ranks that can do the job!

Either that or get some of our media department (what a joke) to apply some of their ubiquitous whitewash.

I was meaning more along he lines of Ajax's youth system in comparison to ours, we ahve the facilities at Murray Pasrk but we just don't utalise them very well.

this is exactly the type of team we need to be playing a friendly, a big european side that is going to test our squad. Far better than last year playing stupid sides that barely test the squad. The friendlies against ajax and chelsea should give us an idea of what we need to do to progress in the champions league next year.

Rangers and Bairns to face Ajax

Ajax players celebrate a goal at the Amsterdam Arena

Ajax will face Rangers and Falkirk in pre-season friendlies

Dutch side Ajax will play Rangers and Falkirk in friendlies before the start of next season.

Henk Ten Cate's side will travel to Ibrox on Tuesday 24 July, and will face Falkirk four days later.

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said he expected the Dutch side to offer Walter Smith's side a good test ahead of the new campaign.

Falkirk boss John Hughes said: "Ajax will proved a first-class test for the boys as we prepare for the new season."

Bain said the Ibrox side were looking forward to hosting Ajax and he described them as one of Europe's finest clubs.

"This will be a good test for Walter's squad ahead of the new campaign," said Bain.

Rangers last faced Ajax in the Champions League during the 1996-97 season, when they lost 4-1 in Holland and 1-0 at Ibrox.

Ajax will share Falkirk's training camp at Stirling University during their stay in Scotland, and Hughes said he was relishing the chance to play the Dutch side.

"It's the kind of opposition that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you think about them," the Falkirk boss said.

Also Falkirk, least Gowser's old pals are not missing out!

That nite the team was made up of fringe players or players who needed games for fitness i.e Sebo, Svensson, Papac, Hutton at the time, Macgregor at the time, Rae, N'Diaye etc etc

Ajax and Chelsea should and will give us a good contest and its a good test before we start our qualifying campaign for the Champions League
