Ace 3,556
Was listening to Clyde this evening and Keevins et al were saying that according to Uefa site, the runner up AND winners of SPL season 2011/12 will have to enter at the 3rd qualifying round, meaning we could possibly begin our season in June ?? bluenose_72 198
As far as I'm aware, 1st goes into the 3rd qualifying round(where we went in this season) and 2nd goes in at the same stage in the best placed section of the draw.
JimmyCR1 1,502
First goes straight into the group stage I'm sure
JM1872 3,708
NO!There is no automatic qualification for anybody in Scottish football for next season's UEFA Champions League Group Stages.Never has been and never will be.This whole debate came up during the interview with Mark Guidi, Traynor and Whyte with they two terrific journalists informing us that the winners would but being honest we are about 6/7 places away from the automatic section in the co-efficient list.I personally don't know whether it will be 3rd or 2nd Q round we will enter at but being honest I'm not getting my hopes up of qualifying. bluenose_72 198
I think next season we are 15th in the nations co-efficient, but only the top 13 have teams that go straight in.
GF John 169
I think next season we are 15th in the nations co-efficient, but only the top 13 have teams that go straight in.I read somewhere that in a couple of years time, we'll be 28th in that table. AyeReadyStu 70
Problem is after next year the coefficient points form our UEFA Cup run in 2008 drop off, which really puts our coefficient in trouble.
rangersxfc 265
Problem is after next year the coefficient points form our UEFA Cup run in 2008 drop off, which really puts our coefficient in trouble.got told scotland will be the same as san marino dont think its just down to Parkhead Corinthians/rangers the other teams in scotland let us down year after year
crombie1873 142
I thought when we beat Sporting last season that was meant to get us an automatic qualification for next season? Or was it just putting it back to 2 teams in the CL qualifiers?

No other club in Scotland has done as much as Rangers have for Scottish Football in Europe in recent times
MikeBlue 136
I think people have simply mixed up getting two places back with the winner going straight into the groups.Of course that second place isn't much good as it will mean playing the big boys in the final round. Londonderry_Bear 111
However if the winners of the champs league have already qualified through their league position the SPL champs will be mover up a place in the table and will skip the first round of qualifiers and go into the playoff round I believe
ballingrybear 2
iread in a paper that the winners of the spl go into the group stages
Ace 3,556
From what I have read since, it appears we do NOT go straight in but start in third round of qualifications

Thermopylae 15,286
Would be very hard to imagine even the champions of a league where everyone is out of Europe in August would go directly in
