RANGERS have been lifted by news that Dorin Goian's knee injury does not appear to be as serious as first feared.

The Romanian defender has been a huge hit since his move from Serie A side Palermo at the end of July.

Dorin GoianBut it seemed the Light Blues might have to do without him for a length of time when he jarred his knee against Aberdeen in Sunday's 2-0 win at Ibrox.

Goian has travelled to Bucharest to prepare for his country's Euro 2012 qualifiers away to Luxembourg then at home to France.

The problem has eased off considerably and the 30-year-old looks as though he will be able to play in both games if selected.

That's a boost for the champions, who had feared not having him in their line up for a number of weeks.

Manager Ally McCoist told Blues News: "We've got our fingers crossed on that one. He's not in the clear yet but he feels an awful lot better.

"We were a little bit concerned about Dorin jarring his knee on Sunday as he has had problems with it before and he looked to be in a lot of pain.

"The good news is though that he's feeling a big improvement and we're hopeful he will be fine."
