Most of my family (outwith my parents & my own kids) are selik fans. It disgusts me, but I don't hate them, I just consider myself to be a few steps further up the social ladder than them.

Whether they be from my mothers side (staunchly practising presbyterians but still all tims) or my fathers side (just a timmy rabble, but with no history of bead-rattling),I've always looked down on them.

I have friends who are nominal selik fans, but I have never been able to socialise with the rabid sort, nor do I intend to.

The sight of those disgusting fucking hoops, on a man, woman or child, just makes me angry. Nothing seems to change that.

Reason I believe is Reid, Liewall, they knew when they gave them Lemmon as manager it would take the heat of the board, but, yes , i have noticed big difference due to what is happening now, used to be good banter, but when i tell them hey looking good, looks like a CVA, they get really angry and call us cheats lol, when you laugh and say hey ive got debt to the banks, visa card, window cleaner, paper guy etc but you dont call me a cheat that really riles them up :))

I will say, the stateside rhetoric has gotten worse the past few years. Most Sellik support over here are just someone who bought a shirt and pretend to be Irish (what a strange coincidence that is, eh? craphead2.gif), but some of the more dedicated ones have taken a nastier tone. The aborted/non-starter OF game in Boston didn't help any. Paper there led with a horribly ill-informed story about the Ibrox Disaster and it just went down hill from there. There's some bars I just won't go to anymore, and they used to be decent enough places to catch a match. Don't need their shit.

A few steps eh?

Does that make you an unemployed toilet cleaner?

Well I must say the majority of my friends are Celtic fans and most of them are quite reasonable people. Different story for the rest of them though.

There's one who's life is actually Celtic. His phone is infested with rebel tunes and he plays them constantly. He thinks he knows more about Celtic than anyone else and will take any excuse to talk about Celtic, the upside down brigade and their history. A few people have actually said that he makes them not want to be a Celtic fan.

They all think there ultras and rebels, another reason why there hated. And they go out of there way to try and get Rangers name dragged through the mud.

You even have there Celtic supporters association wishing that all Protestant shipbuilders died when the titanic sunk.

They are obsessed with Rangers and religion. Don't think they understand that you can get a Celtic supporting Protestant and a Rangers supporting Catholic.

I would say the last 2 seasons US and them the hatred has got to all time high pure and simply i think due to lennons antics me personally i have always been bitter but now i seriously find it hard to speak to tims in work and i no they feel same way

Take it you didn't go to games in the 70s and early 80s - significantly more hatred than today.

I've got a very good friend whose a Celtic fan and my youngest brother is first one in the family history don't have a problem with at all just a good opportunity for banter.

This is my problem this is never allowed the other way around. No chance in hell a young member of the family could support Rangers in a Celtic family. There is hardly any young Rangers fans coming through. I think part of it is that it is more fun to be a Celtic fan at the moment. You can actually go to games and sing songs and jump around without fear of getting the jail. They have rebel concerts throughtout Glasgow with Charlie and the bhoys etc week in week out which is just a big timfest. There no events of this sort for Rangers fans.

Neil Lennon's arrival though has been the catalyst for a whole load of controversy and increased tension though not necessarily increased tension between fans but between the people at the football clubs (tu)

I think the scum are at their weakest and they know as no one cares about the tainted title they are all concerned about rangers.

Back in my RN days I took great pleasure in f**king up a Scottish Cup Final for a couple of Timmies who were part of my crew.We were in refit in Rosythe with a couple of weeks work left to do.The Monday of the week before the Final ,I heard them talking together and saying their tickets were at home for the game and they'd be met at Hampden.I went and seen the Jimmy(1st Officer)also from NI and ordered a Saturdays work detail for the seamen, the mhanks didn't see the Final.think it was v Aberdeen before '85,they lost anyway I think. :crabflute:

I would agree in the past few months with all the Neil Lemmon pish and Rangers administration tempers have been getting flared.

As a whole I dont 'hate' someone for being a Celtic fan , but aslong as they keep it to themselves and dont start talking shit over nothing.

I would say that since 2001 things have defiantly got worse in relations between us and them. O'spueal and the new age Celtic fans who had never been to a game before that time definitely put a lot of fuel on the fire, this was also round about the time that the Celtic internet troll who sat behind a computer 24/7 just tring to get Rangers into trouble for any reason at all showed up.
