Rangers: Paul Murray's Blue Knights prepare new bid

Paul Murray has told BBC Scotland his Blue Knights consortium will be working over the weekend to table a new bid for Rangers on Monday.

Murray's group, with Ticketus as partner, had been working towards preferred bidder status before stepping back over an exclusivity fee.

Ticketus, who funded Craig Whyte's takeover of Rangers last May, were also in discussion with Bill Ng.

But the Singaporean withdrew his offer, leaving Bill Miller as sole bidder.

More to follow.

They need to get Kennedy on side asap, as well as Ticketus, who may be easier to deal with now that Ng has dropped out and Miller has made it clear that he wasn't going to deal with them. Unless Miller's conditions about possible SPL sanctions are revised then his bid is destined for failure anyway.

Miller sent out a 1500 word essay telling everyone that he was going to bid on Monday and it was lapped up. TBK tell BBC that they will be working on things over the weekend prior to a Monday bid and they are accused of attempting to get themselves media exposure(the reason for them doing that has never quite been explained).

A preferred bidder being installed simply because they were all that there was, is not great for Rangers.

day 4, 1 major player decides he shall wait until the time is right

day 5, administration team say day 6 will be the day that we shall find out who will be the prefaired bidder

day 6, new bidder on the scene, delayed

day 7, 3 bidders drop out, two remains

day 8, 1 bidder left as the other bidder decides to walk away

day 9, bidder has come back to make a new bid

day 10, the final countdown, 2 bidders, 1 club, tune in next week for the series final you wont want to miss

Blue Knights have been feeding us and the media the buy the club line for a while people are tired of it. Millers statements the first we heard of him and his plans.

Him telling us his strategy for buyin the club is now forcing the BK to actually get their finger out.

Surely you notice the difference.

Yes, one of them doesn't intend to 'newco' us.

I agree with the sentiment, but for TBK to be ultimately successful they need to fill the gap in their funding somehow, and if thats not Kennedy, the Ticketus make sense. On top of that, depending on our liability to HMRC, Ticketus may be able to block a CVA so in that sense it may be better to have them on side.

You honestly think a former board member who sat on his hand happily picking up his pay cheque as he watched and took part in us going down this road in the first place is the answer.

Good luck with that thought.

You have changed your tune i thought you were Mr Cleansweep.

I'm still of the same opinion, but I'm resigned to the fact that a cleansweep means ending up with Miller and his newco.

Pragmatism over idealism.
