caseyjones 3,009
Because it was a regional league, not a national league that we won.Correct.
jcb 1,167
At the start of today's meeting, we just need to say that we'll only play in the SPL next year if we have no (significant) sanctions for Administration/newco/EBTs. Otherwise we'll apply for SFL3. Then sit back and enjoy the rest of the meeting.I take it that D&P will represent us today. Lets hope they show more balls than the previous regime and indeed do as you suggest.
boss 1,941
Because it was a regional league, not a national league that we won. You're only partly correct. Take 1939/40 for instance. Rangers won the Emergency League Western Division and Falkirk won the Emergency League Eastern Division. Rangers then won the play-off at Hampden. That game meant something - it was played at Hampden for goodness sake - and it was played there to find the national football champions. In what way was that not ultimately a national competition? Why would any Rangers supporter not want our Club's success that year to be recognised?

They don't officially recognise the goals scored during that time either. It's yet another sign of the class our club once possessed.
D'Artagnan 13,319
An interesting concept that of retrospective punishment.Several years ago all SPL clubs were required to ensure that their grounds met a certain standard. Celtic FC failed to do so...spending money on squad strenghthening instead...and as a consequence had to rent Hampden for a season.Should all matches they won during this period be declared null and void also ? Sporting integrity should prevail
