The preposterous and ill considered nature of these actions against Rangers.

Recommended Posts

So the SPL want Rangers, even as a newco, back to earn their money, but not get a fair share of that money whilst being penalised on the playing front with successive points deductions. This is equivalent to going to a loan shark, not getting the loan and having to pay it back, whilst being knee-capped for the pleasure, and truly merits the comparison.

I didn't think it would get any more bizarre and unjustifiable than that, but the SFA have really trumped the SPL bundle of penalties with their own addition. Furthermore, this double punishment, for the actions of an owner who never kept to his agreement over the terms of his purchase and was protested against in the strongest possible terms by the previous board, whilst the SFA happily stood back and watched on, creates a virtually impossible situation for the club.

We have been struggling financially for years, but nonetheless, we have shown an admirable resilience that characterises the essence of the club. Despite this hardship, we have reached a European final, won many trophies and been champions for three successive years, whilst steadily reducing the debt. Indeed, my strong feeling is that if Whyte had backed Ally with a couple of decent strikers, we would have continued to win the title whilst making a profit which wouldn't have been needed to pay off the debt. His deception harmed many victims but none moreso than the club and its fans.

Yes it hurts, but do we give up? Hell no! That's not what we do. That said, this double punishment from the SPL and SFA, added to the hardly inconsequential issue of administration and possibly even liquidation- the latter of which I had previously rated as highly unlikely- really does create a perfect storm that does indeed seem almost impossible to overcome.

We may be on our knees, with knives drawn. The executioner may even have raised the axe above his above his head, poised to deliver the final chop, but we must remain strong. The club, management, players and fans have displayed tremendous character to unite as one and defy the odds in what have been some of our darkest days. The saga seems unending, and appears to have limitless new twist and turns.

Not everyone is our enemy. Indeed, even those delivering our punishment many not be genuine haters of the club, but merely the usual work·a·day, feckless, spineless buffoons who are typical of those in authority in oh so many walks in life. They are just like the politicians who don't know what to say when a big story breaks. The pattern is practically ubiquitous these days. First, the story breaks as the media sensationalise it, often demanding action. A public outcry ensues, in our case, ably assisted by many haters who apparently rarely give their own club such a degree of attention. Those in authority have to be seen to do something. They take action, but generally overreact which either leaves us with a state worse than previous, or the cycle simply repeats to rebalance.

We are currently at the overreaction stage of the authorities. The next stages are key to unfolding of the wider story. They may reconsider and roll back realising the monumentally irresponsible stupidity of their actions. Then again, they may not, but let us consider the circumstances they have dictated.

Post-administration, or post-liquidation, any club or company will have to reassess its finances. It may have to balance the books, by letting better, higher paid players go, or may even end up with none as the playing staff walk away as free agents. The SPL and generally Scottish football seem to demand that the club takes its place at the top table for the overall commercial viability of the game in our country.

Almost unbelievably, the SFA then charge in like a clumsy drunkard trying to tell them all how it is, to say that such a club should be banned from signing players for a year. Think about that. A football club without players or that has to rebalance the books, whilst having to play matches to effectively save the national game, cannot sign football players, according to the body that is meant to protect the game.

I've no doubt that they'll tell you that they are trying to protect the game. Damn, some of them may even be so gullible that they've convinced themselves that they are. However, the game is saying it needs them in the top league for everyone to survive and the governing body dictates a circumstance that may even cause relegation.

Oh hell! They never considered that. They really didn't. They actually never pondered that they may be the ones to deliver a fatal blow to one of the most historic clubs in the world, let alone the country and therefore the ones to kill the game. That may be interpreted as melodramatic, but if pretty much everyone outside the pathologically biased tacitly accepts the essential nature of Rangers' presence at the top table, and the governing body effectively orchestrate relegation, they've burst the ball for everyone. The game's a bogey because of the SFA.

Will that lead to another preposterous loan shark deal to get us back in the SPL? Hey, if they keep kicking us out they can keep letting us in to earn the money and take our share of it. Sounds like a plan, Peter. Eh?

Another bizarre and key aspect of this latest official measure is timing. The announcement comes at a point when the previous owner has effectively done a runner, after the SFA did and said nothing whilst the former board protested against Whyte in the strongest possible terms. They could at least have spoken out and pressured David Murray and Lloyds bank. As the governing body, they could even have asked the government to intervene, given their status. They could have kept a close eye on Whyte and queried his every dubious step- and there were many.

They did none of this. They stood by and watched it all unfold, step by painful step. Now we have an unprecedented turmoil on our hands and the SFA, who do bear some responsibility, kick us in the teeth as we lie on the ground bleeding. Furthermore, they've stolen our phone and won't call the ambulance. In fact, they're placing the hand cuffs on us with this latest penalty.

Add in the fact that we have no owners to represent our interests, thus leaving the Administrators to represent us before any new owner can state his own case, the three day appeal limit seems another cruel joke. We're not even getting a fair trial. Natural justice is a collateral victim as everybody goes after Rangers. First it was Administration which came with a ten point deficit and its own transfer embargo. Then there was the year out of European football due to not being able to submit audited accounts due to said irresponsible former owner's reckless actions. Next there was the potential SPL muti-package of penalties over seasons and now we can't rebalance our current squad financial or buy our first players as a newco.

How will the bidders respond? Will they pull out? It appears not, but what if their bids are unsuccessful? Surely that would mean liquidation or at least the loss of the entire playing staff. The SPL would demand our presence, whilst the SFA, potentially, would deny us any players. I reckon they would still need us after another season. If we can't find a wealthy and generous owner, they have little chance. Given the precarious nature of finances at so many SPL clubs, it really is a house of cards, with the King of Clubs propping them all up. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

As I earlier stated, this comes after the SFA stood by as the then club officials spoke out publicly. This fact cannot be overlooked. They do share some responsibility in this fiasco-not as much as Whyte, but they clearly abrogated their responsibilities to a member club. It has lead to this most turbulent of periods for the national game, let alone Rangers. The media pleasing heavy handedness may get some pressure off them now, but the lifeblood of the very game, as well as the club, is at stake.

It is time for top people at the SFA to engage with the Rangers fans and swiftly. What's more, it has to be open. We can't have a pre-written statement announced at a press conference or any petulant storming off because people disagree. We need a forum for discussion. Have the media present if necessary. Indeed, why not have security guards or even police to ensure safety. In the modern world, we can even use a video forum, perhaps even hosted by a TV station. Let the responsible majority of Rangers fans ask questions and get answers.

So fellow supporters, stay calm but do take sensible action. Peaceful protest is not only welcome, it is essential. Part of of the reason why we are at this point is the determined pressure our enemies have placed upon those with influence, purely to harm us. We must learn from this. I've said it countless times. We must demand answers.

Stay calm. Be determined. We're in it for the long haul. The biggest victory will be our next title, whether that is in the SPL, Division 3, some level in England or further afield. Make no mistake. It will come. It may take a few years, but we have endured barren periods before. Any penalties will be finished within a maximum of three years. If we stay strong, keep supporting the club, showing the resilience and character that is our hallmark, we will see this through. Indeed, we have came through much, much worse in our long history and survived, not just to tell the tale, but to thrive.

The one thing we have learned is that Scottish football doesn't deserve a club as great as Rangers. I'd say we're too good for this parochial back-water of bitterness, back-stabbing and thinly veiled bigotry. That may well still be our future, at least in the short term, but we can rule the roost and see what Europe brings in a shorter time-frame than we currently fear.

Be strong. Keep the faith. We are the people. We shall not crumble into submission. Our return to prominence is inevitable. Just be Ready.

Oleg, I tend to post selectively on this forum. I have to say I have read and re-read your most excellent post. I have also read your previous posts and it is most enlightning to enjoy input from an educated perspective

I genuinely feel that crisis is what brings people together and often heals rifts which when viewed in the cold light of day are very trivial indeed.

I am very proud of the Rangers' family for the manner in which we have come together in recent months in support of our proud club.

However, there are, unfortunately, a few loose cannons who by their words or actions are determined to undermine the ongoing covert good work to help our club emerge from this dark period.

My message to all Rangers' supporters is this. If you cannot do us any good, please do not do us any harm.

We have enemies aplenty who are waiting to pounce at the first available opportunity to further their ultimate cause which is to see our proud club put asunder.

Let us one and all ensure we do not give them any oppportunity to do so.

Cheers mate, but it's time for us all to speak up for the club.

We can't have others setting the agenda without responding at a time such as this.

Yes Oleg a Fantastic bit of Reading, and says it all for me .Well done .

We must stay alert and fight those with an agenda who hate us and our Club.

Remember back to TBB First our songs then what .Well the what has arrived and we need to be strong and vigilant and unite as one .

If we do this then we can come out the other side whether its Admin or Liquidation we can come back if we stick together.

No Surrender and Keep Believing we need to know who our enemy's are.

And we need to shine the light on their Hidden Agendas.

Great post again Oleg.

Once TBK + Kennedy are in charge, the days of "dignified silence" will be over.

If there is one thing positive to come out of this mess, its that the days of being treated like shite will be in the past.

The whole big picture is etched in every Gers fans mind over who has jumped on the "lets fuck Rangers" bandwagon.

And TBKs are no different. They know the ones that fucked us over. They have courted the mhedia for their own means, but once they take over these same cunts will be shafted.

Scottish football has had its "Gers Bashing" time, now the sleeping giant has wakened.

What the fk!!!! How does that work ??? Transparent and brick!

Very good point.

Boss's exceptional work in exposing Drysdale highlights why McCoist was right to demand transparency. The appointment of such a person, uncannily like the unfit and improper Craig Whyte, and his role in determining that clubs and fans should suffer the consequences, rather than said disreputable person, clearly highlights the hypocrisy and openness to abuse of this particualy panel-led process.

I also had to laugh that they rushed the decision through - for our benefit !!!!!!!!!!!! but may have come to a different conclusion if they had slept on it (to paraphrase what happened) ! (you just couldnae make some of this shit up and get it believed!
