To be fair that is a rather important question. They can claim that Green's offer of £5.5 million was the best offer that would come around in the current climate, and more than would be raised by BDO in a fire sale come liquidation. However the fact that Smiths consortium were quoted as having made a £6 million offer could lead to an investigation by BDO when they take offer from D&P. Hopefully HMRC will decide that they are too busy going after Whyte for the taxes, and possibly Murray.
