Loyal Bear 72 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 My apologies for starting another thread about this but here is what I think about the announcements from the 2 players today.Steven WhittakerLets be honest. Whittaker was never a Rangers fan and we all knew it. Extremely variable performances, he had good spells but not enough to make up for the bad spells. We should never have signed him on a 20k+ a week deal and should have let him leave when he turned down the first contract offer. Not many would disagree with me when I say he isn't worth half the wage he was on. Add to that his red card in Malmo, his holding up the potential wage deal, turning his back on the fans and manager, leaving the club and coming out with comments like he done today. The guy is a disgrace but lets face it, it isn't entirely surprising and in truth it is not a big loss to Rangers FC.Steven NaismithOn the other hand, Naismith will be an incredible loss. But its not just what he can do on the park. Naismith is a life-long Rangers fan, whose excitement at signing for Rangers just before the close of the transfer window in 2007 showed us how much he really loved the club. And it is because of this that the decision he has taken has been pretty saddening for many Bears. To take advantage of the current situation in this way before we even know what next year has in store is a real blow to the fans, the manager and the club. Instead of remembering his goals and his performances, I will probably now mostly remember the day when he confirmed he was turning his back on his club at the time it needed him most.Loyal Bear 72 Quote
