LeeWallaceRFC Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 There has been no announcement on who would take soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers' place in the SPL if Green's bid fails. That prospect appears near certain after six of the 12 clubs confirmed they would vote against the newco application. Green needs eight clubs to back his bid.Dunfermline finished bottom of the SPL last season but Dundee also have a claim given they were second in the Irn-Bru First Division behind promoted Ross County.Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston told BBC Scotland: "We fully expect to be the team in the SPL next season."We have taken legal advice on the matter and on the basis of that we would expect to be reinstated."It is believed that the SPL clubs themselves would decide who replaces Rangers and it could be July 4, when they are due to vote on the newco bid, that they make the decision.Historical precedents point the way of Dunfermline. For example bottom club Motherwell stayed up in 2003 when First Division champions Falkirk failed to secure an SPL-compliant ground. There have been other years when no club was relegated amid expansion of the top flight.Dunfermline were also directly affected when Rangers fell into administration in February as an unpaid debt from the Ibrox club delayed payments of the Pars players' wages as they battled to avoid relegation.Meanwhile, St Mirren appear to be on course to join Dundee United, Hearts, Hibernian, Inverness, Aberdeen and St Johnstone in opposing the newco application, if the board listen to the views of the fans.St Mirren have launched a formal consultation with those supporters who have pledged money as part of a community-led takeover plan. The 10,000 Hours community group have published the responses of the ongoing consultation and, with exactly half the votes cast, only 2% of respondents believe a newco Rangers should be admitted if there is no financial impact on St Mirren in opposing Green's bid. When asked if the newco should be admitted even if the consequences of rejection were cash-flow problems for St Mirren that could lead to administration, 83% of respondents said no.A similar number of fans said they would support the club through difficult financial times with increased donations even if it meant delaying the takeover for a year.Motherwell have entrusted their decision to members of their fans' ownership scheme with a no vote expected.http://www.football365.com/rangers/7842400/Pars-expect-SPL-return? Goianegra Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Why the fuck should they be rewarded? Surely has to be Dundee. Quote
Mor3los_1 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Considering they couldn't pay players wages after we didn't give them money for one game i expect them to be in administration by October at this rate. Quote
fyfe Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 They made a ridiculous argument for it in another interview, where they said that technically Dunfermline came 12th in Scottish football and Dundee came 14th Yes, but they came 14th by winning their games and a competitive league, you came 12th by contributing nothing to the SPL and losing most of your games. King Jela Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 By far the worst SPL team I have ever witnessed. Fucking scandalous. Quote
chewbacca Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Surely a playoff between the two teams is most logical!?Pars - Dundee Quote
the brown brogue Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Surely a playoff between the two teams is most logical!?Pars - DundeeSo it will be a team who over the course of a season were proven to be the poorest side in the division thus should rightly be relegated, or a team who have been in administration twice in 10 years due to gross financial mismanagement and unpaid taxes.A true victory for the much much vaunted 'sporting integrity' the scottish footballing fraternity seek to preserve.... Gillete Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Yorkston is a bawbag Don't want Dundee going up Nothing to do with them as a club , but they would have at least 3 Dundee derbies to play and it will give that rat cunt Thompson more revenue Quote
Manno Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I'd rather it was Dundee as I've always hated those mini-sheepshaggers. Shite club, shite fans.Although Raith and Falkirk have mentioned they don't want us in Division One - it would seemingly cost the league 4 derbies (those two with Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline) Quote
adam2102 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 seeing as it is our place thats being taken, it would only show sporting integrity to allow us the vote. i vote dundee. Quote
Senna Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Dunfermline can GTF. Only Gretna spare them the indignity of being the worst SPL club in history. Dundee up. Quote
alstone Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Awful decision - should at least have a play off to decide Quote
Gaz92 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 They were fucking reeking last year, absolutely dire, I'd be embarrassed to still want to be in the SPL if I was them. Quote
