Fraser Forster staying at Newcastle for the time being

Recommended Posts

The goalkeeper has spent the last two seasons on loan at Parkhead, making almost 70 appearances and helping Neil Lennon's side to the SPL title.

Although the clubs had agreed a £2m fee for his services, Forster is yet to sign, with an English club now thought to be his preference.

"At the moment he is coming back to us," Magpies manager Alan Pardew told the Sunderland Echo.

"He will be with us until he finds a club and we find a fee that works for us."

Despite his impressive performances in Scotland, Pardew is willing to let the shot-stopper move on, such has been the form of number one Tim Krul, and the wealth of back-up options at his disposal in Steve Harper and Rob Elliot.

"It's one area that we are well stocked in," Pardew added.

In their venomous quest to see us killed off, the tims have failed to see the bigger picture altogether. No player worth his salt will come to play in an untelevised, uncompetitive footballing backwater without even the carrot of an Old Firm game to tempt them.

If an on-loan mongoloid extra from the Addams Family doesn't want to play for them they can forget about building their Champions League winning squad.

Indeed. I don't think they have realised that the one thing that foreign players know about Scottish football is the old firm. The prospect of playing in one of the greatest derbies very occasionally, just occasionally, balances out how shite Scottish football is in the minds of players with a chance to play in the SPL. Now there is absolutely no attraction at all. Well thought out, chaps.
