Obligatory thread which slags FF and praises RM

Recommended Posts

So Im a "pro-unity" guy now am I ?

What is it with the Rangers support that we are obssessed with putting people into compartments ?

I have on occasion posted criticism of some of the goings on with FF and the RST - Im sure Boss would be able to produce the thread if necessary - hes good at finding obscure threads. But that criticism was levelled without resorting to personal abuse of other Bears.

Perhaps you are not aware as I have to post under a different username over there - but in recent weeks I have taken issue with some comments on FF regarding RM. One poster admitted he hadnt even read RM despite making assertions about the site.

If people think that healing the splits will happen by coming on another site and posting personal abuse then I can assure them their strategy is doomed to failure. Furthermore its shows little respect for this site as the content of some of that criticism....as I highlighted earlier in this thread...is little more than cringeworthy.

When you said earlier in this thread, "We're better than this" and when you complained of posters, "...rubbishing fellow bears on an almost daily basis", I thought you were calling for unity.

If you were actually referring to the poor quality of posts on this site, then I picked you up wrongly.

My bad.

Exactly Swally. The posting of that guy alprod are the perfect example.

2 threads in recent days :-

1. "Anyone else banned from FF"

2. Link to what he thought was a shit stirring thread he had posted on FF.

It does make you wonder

Who benefits mostly from division in the ranks?

:shifty:

I have no problem with constructive criticism COI. The free debate without fear of censure is one of the reasons I like this site. AS CB has demonstrated a few posts above there are bona fide reasons which justify fair criticism and Im all for everything being out in the open.

But threads which contain posts which express little more than 3 or 4 words of personal abuse are of benefit to no-one.

D'Art - I do not make these claims lightly. I was one of the 'old originals' of the RST and attended many a meeting where Colin Glass and others held the high ideals of the supporters trust movement. This was to be a brave new world for us, the Rangers supporters, but somewhere down the line it got sidelined and then subverted - and that has never been dealt with by the RST.

There was a mass (pardon the pun) exodus of RST board members some years ago and one website (no names no pack drill) went into overdrive decrying those who left - character assassinations were the order of the day (ordered from above, perhaps?) and still the problems of the RST continued.

Its membership numbers have been massaged for years - its spokesperson's have changed but the message remained the same and it's backing of racists stunts like "Yanks Go Home" should have seen its entire board dumped out on its arse.

But that didn't happen and its latest effort "Don't buy season tickets" for anyone other than the Troo Bloo How-Do-You-Do G'Nights (or anyone remotely linked to them) shows it up for what it has become - a narrow-minded inward-looking puss-filled boil that needs to be lanced, a.s.a.p.

The RST and FF are intrinsically-linked and that, I'm afraid, is the problem.

A fans' group purporting to "represent" the entire Rangers family can't go down that elite road.

And I have no problem with that.

But when it degenerates into the likes of this...

http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=224966

Then it does no-one any favours.

D' i posted that and believe it deserved to be posted here as a guy who is part of the RFFF has his own agenda, and if, he doesnt like it, he should leave the table, not go on his own site and oppose it.

Which site (RM = Y) doesn't use the postal facilities of the RST (Others Funds = W) to promote its site and which site (FF = Zzzzzzzzzzz :sleep1: ) does use said facilities of the RST (Others Funds = W, again) to promote its site and to try and attract subscribers to its magazine version.....which, er....hasn't appeared for almost six-months now?

There is no such thing as "the view of the RM website."

Peter maybe it's been attempted in the past but why don't the owners/admin of RM try and have some dialogue with FF in relation to sorting out this inter-forum rivalry and turning it into something useful and constructive for us all?

The "inter-forum rivalry" is overstated imo. People on FF slag off RM, people on RM slag off FF, that's life. To blow it up into a big thing does nobody any favours. I'm not sure about FF, as I don't use it much, but certainly on here we have equally vocal FF supporters, who are welcome to share their opinions.

I don't see FF as a rival, they're just another forum. Both forums are for Rangers supporters, and each is clearly different from the other or we wouldn't be having this conversation. People will find whichever forum they prefer and stick to it. Good luck to them :)

What bluepeter said.

I was asked to become a Mod on RM and I was happy to accept. There were no preconditions, no party line, no 'you can't say that' edicts.......none.

Were that different, I wouldn't be here.

You're getting MY opinion on things - end of.

So, is that clear enough for you? :sherlock:

I'm on both. Does that mean I hate both, have a conflict of interest or am I simply confused?

I understand having an opinion, when it gets personal to the point of hatred or I posted this on ff, heehee, wonder how they'll react? It gets childish and slightly strange, like the ff forum is one collective, agenda driven mindset.

At the end of the day you will always have people bitching and moaning about others, it's life. The fact that it's online and anonymous only intensifies the content.

What I think is that as others have said generally people will find the forum that suits them and stick to it more often than not. I don't like the swipes at fellow supporters however I do think that it CAN be constructive to hear what's happening over at FF or other sites as it gives a broader perspective on the mindset of our fanbase, so for that reason I wouldn't like to see all the FF threads vanish, I would like them to be discussed constructively rather than just deteriorate into 4/5 pages of MD related abuse. We all have our opinions on the man and for most of us it's not complimentary but it's been done to death, we don't gain anything and it contributes nothing to the discussion to simply slag him off time and time again.

I'm not calling for unity or anything like that because it's human nature that there will always be divison in a support as large as ours but it can be a healthy division at least and as we have shown with the hampden march when we do work together it CAN be a success.
