North Rd 2,860
RANGERS and the game’s governing bodies are on another collision course over an outstanding debt.Dundee United revealed yesterday they are still waiting for £31,031.20 due from a Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox last February. But Rangers continued to insist they had paid their Scottish football dues and their row with the SPL is now likely to be kicked up to the SFA for a ruling. However, in a further twist it can be disclosed the Ibrox club themselves have had to wait for the SFA to release £800,000 owed to them. That money was sent to Scottish football’s governing body from Southampton via their own association as payment for the transfer of Steve Davis.Charles Green was still salvaging Rangers at the time and felt it appropriate the fee go to the SFA instead of into his Sevco account.Yesterday a Hampden source revealed that because the money was with the SFA it was suggested by Green they proceed to pay the club’s outstanding Scottish football debts. But almost a week later he discovered they hadn’t. Not only that, according to the source the SFA had no intention of making payments.Green, it is understood, paid the debts – but not United’s £31,000 – from the Rangers account as soon as he’d been alerted but then couldn’t get his Davis money back from the SFA.Apparently the people authorised to sign off cheques were on holiday.United have been careful not to say who should pay them but they should have been settled in full by now, especially as it is unclear when SPL clubs will get their hands on TV money.Normally they’d have received their first payments – around £675,000 each – by now but the renegotiations with broadcasters after Rangers went into liquidation have ensured the cash hasn’t started flowing yet.Last night the SPL still couldn’t say when the payouts, which will be lower than usual, will be made but they are likely to get something before United will see any of the money due from the Ibrox cup-tie.Rangers insist the SPL agreed they would pay and have a letter, dated May 18, which states the debt would be taken out of SPL money owed to them. This was before liquidation and afterwards the SPL withheld around £1.2m Gers were due for finishing second. The SPL will argue the letter is no longer relevant because it was sent to the business which went into liquidation and United’s debt should be paid by the newco. They are adamant the five-way agreement – between the SFA, SPL, SFL, Sevco and The Rangers Football Club PLC (in adminstration) – which allowed Rangers to get an SFA licence makes it clear who should settle outstanding debts. But Rangers are furious and determined to hold the SPL to the wording of that May letter.Green said: “We wrote to United on Monday explaining the SPL had previously confirmed they would pay it.“I spoke to Stewart Regan and his solicitor today and provided them with relevant documentation.”

Douglas Cameron 179
They haven't handed over the Davis money?! Seriously that is absolutely ridiculous
Douglas Cameron 179
I appreciate the anger regarding admin but Green has been straight with this lot from the off and agreed to their demands regarding prize money as Scottish football debts. That money was handed over by Southampton in good faith and since we now have our football license there can be no reasonable grounds to withhold. Redwhiteandblue 3,330
Hmmm. This could get interesting. The spl trying to get out of paying money because of the newco situation then demanding we pay money because to oldco was due that money. This is fucking laughable. Two faced cunts. If our newco should have to pay spl debts, the spl should give our newco money that we are owed. It cant be new club when they owe money but new club when they owe us money. Douglas Cameron 179
The agreement to pay 800k was between southampton and rangers. The only reason it wasn't paid direct is we did not hold a football license so Southampton could not make payment to us. The sfa holding it was anAmicable solution. What business do they have interfereing in a commercial agreement? The incompetence is astonishing
sj1972 4
When we took them to court over the transfer ban and we won was the Sfa not supposed to pay our court fees too. Will they have paid them and do you think they would have took it out the money owed to us.

choochooblue 342
We are no longer vulnerable , there is no more apathy amongst the support who now have a renewed strength within . I hope and believe Charles Green will not back down on this issue , it may be an insignificant amount of money but there is a moral principle to this . I want the corrupt authorities to feel the full force of our club on this one .

nelsonRFC82 305
I've said before I'm more than passing concerned about what will happen when the liquidators get involved.Maybe D&P/BDO are playing a blinder here, by allowing SPL to come forward with this ridiculous argument that the agreement to make payment to Dundee Hibs was between SPL & Oldco...they are taking the football club out of the equation and making it a business decision between SPL Ltd & Rangers PLC (oldco). By doing so, this means that the 5 party agreement that Green signed waiving our right to the prize money has nothing to do with the club but instead was on behald of Rangers Ltd (newco) and therefore oldco would have every right to chase it, and could even use SPL's stance on the £30k to Dundee Hibs as evidence to support their case!If they hold off doing so until after they distribute our prize money to other clubs (mostly to Scum FC ) and after they pay out the first installment of TV cash then it is very likely they would be unable to pay the Oldco should they lose and could legally be declared insolvent!
