GovanFrontSince96 315
I honestly think that Rangers should be giving out contracts based on performance (ie winning) while we work our way up the leagues. Brought this up at the game yesterday and most bears around me agreed with this. Players should be getting a basic sakary of say £2000 a week and if we win they get £8000, rather than a salary of say £5000 a week. We shouldn't need to do this but given the players we are up against this may force our players to raise their effort levels and interest in the division which clearly hasn't been there in the away games this season. Simple, if players don't all play like £10000 a week players they will need to make do with lower wages until they start winning. Thoughts? Creampuff 22,630
Considering that we'll win most weeks, you'd be doubling the wages of the first team .
Edmiston Drive 3,846
When Iain Ferguson left us mid 80s for Dundee Utd he was on less wages but the performance incentives made him a lot more than he earned with us.
tooblue 105
Bit difficult when we've already agreed contracts for our signings so far, don't see how we could implement that for the remaining signings we've yet to make (hopefully). Someone with inscrutable credentials in the arse-booting department would be a better investment IMO. Regardless of what we've been through we should be playing to a much higher standard then we have been to date.

Thoughts? You are a great guy to have around a week before the end of the transfer window when almost all of our players are already on contracts. We can hardly just make them change their contracts, glad you're not my boss. Also, very harsh on the guy who scores a hat-trick in the week a team loses 4-3. cambyloyal 20
I made a thread in this a month or two ago, and got shot down in flames I agree with the op, will give the players an incentive to win
Gaz92 966
If these things worked, why wouldn't every team use them? And why would we only specifically use it when moving up the divisions?

TMB 14,167
Too much financial uncertainty with performance related pay. Players want financial security as do we all. A player would much rather have a set wage of 3-4 seasons. That way you can go to your bank manager and say this is what I do earn, will earn, and then buy a house, car, holiday, etyc. No one wants to go see their bank manager and say I might earn 100,000 over x amount of time but if results don't go my way it could be 5,000. This type of performance related pay would never work and as someone has already pointed out - Imagine you get a hat-trick but the team loses 4-3 so you miss out on your pay for that week. You're motivation would evaporate and you'd be looking for the door.
