Forres cup tie?

I'd heard on the news last night that the directors (a guy who owns the club 'baw' and the man who runs the pie stand) of Forres FC were having a meet last night to discuss whether the game should go ahead at their own ground (in Forres), or be moved due to crowd safety issues that were being flagged up.

I can't find anything on the web (so far), so does anyone on RM know how this went?

Someone who lives there spoke to one of the committee after the meeting and no decision was taken last night. They want it to go ahead there and have a voucher system for 2 games allowing them to possibly fill the ground for those games prior to our game but the police may decide otherwise.

im sure its against the rules to switch a cup tie to a bigger venue now, if the teams of the 3rd can accommodate us with their small grounds then we should play Forres at their stadium (think it holds about 1500.......on a more important note, id like to see a boycot of the match if it is moved to an SPL teams stadium, lets start as we mean to go on............FUCK THE SPL

Would the SPL make any money from us having the game at Inverness?

Should just say to them we will play you and draw and then have a replay at ibrox.

I like that idea.....but we could put a twist into its tail. :sherlock:

We make like we're playing for a nil-nil draw (and replay at Ibrox) then, Big Jig thunders one into their net on the 89th minute and we go through to the next round....chuckling at our mental superiority as we go.

The SPL wouldn't - but Inverness CT would get 20% of the gate (after the SFA take their 5% levy).

Rangers will travel to Forres to play the Highland League side in the Scottish Cup.

Questions had been hanging over the tie and suggestions had been made that it may be moved to Inverness Caledonia Thistle’s stadium due to the size of Forres Mechanic’s ground.

Following a meeting on Tuesday night, Mechanics officials confirmed the tie will be played at Mosset Park - which has a capacity of just under 1500.

Club secretary Dave McDonald said: “Yes we are playing the game at Mossat Park. I think it’s great that the game is going ahead at Forres and it gives our supports that go to the game every week the chance to come and see a big match.

“Rangers are drawing big crowds at the moment hopefully it will be a fantastic tie and we eventually we come out winners.

“Our ground holds 1476 and we’ll be expecting that to sell out.

“We still have to finalise the finer details with regard to the game itself. There’s been a lot of dialogue between the time the draw was made and now with the various agencies.

“It’s certainly a good financial boost for the club and the prestige of playing Rangers on your home ground. It’s a huge boost.

“It will be good day for Forres. The shopkeepers are speaking about it at the moment and looking forward to the tie and will bring business to the various shops in the town.

“It will benefit the whole town at the end of the day. Leading up the game as well as on the day.”

The tie will be played on Saturday, September 29.

The A96? I expect they'll be lifting people for obstructing the traffic.

I did a Google street view of the stadium and its surrounds.....there's a few good vantage points around that wee ground...fields, rooftops, tethered hot-air-ballons, etc. :sherlock:

I went further with the street view thing and there don't appear to be too many rub-a-dub-dubs in Forres, though I did spot a 'Red Lion' in the town...which will appeal to kplfishtank and his crew. :D

Seriously.............I've been to most of the Highland League grounds, and Mosset Park is one of the most basic.

I would expect a few broken legs, ankles etc.

Strategically parked double decker buses are a good idea...

The Eagle is the bears pub owned by Rangers ST holder and Euro traveller. He also owns the Vic which is also hotel for anyone staying over. The Thistle is the timmy shop to be avoided.
