Flowers To The People: Seventy2 Mag's First Away-Day In Berwick! by Mal Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Seventy2.

[imgleft]http://rangersmedia.co.uk/images/seventy2berwickaway1.jpg[/imgleft]With Peterhead away tickets being harder to come by than good decisions by the SFA, it was decided the second league away game on Rangers’ hopefully brief stint in Division 3 would be the inaugural fixture to introduce the new retro Rangers magazine – Seventy2 on the road.

Being located in the North East of England for the weekend, it was decided a short hop on the train from Newcastle would be just the ticket (no pun intended). Newcastle’s Central station was swarming with travelling Bears in jovial mood. This was soon quashed on board by British Transport Police, who were quick to point out that anyone without a ticket may be turned back, such was the anticipation of hoards of Rangers descending on the small City centre of Berwick.

The initial fears were unfounded as the entire train emptied onto the station, Shielfield Park, everyone’s destination, via a few watering holes en route. For us though, the task in hand was to spread the good word of Seventy2 Magazine and off we set out, earmarking our spot on which to sell Ranger’s favourite new retro magazine!

With a lack of taxis evident from the railway station, it was decided we would take advantage of the beaming sunshine (for once) and trek the two and a half miles to the ground. This was soon abandoned just after the river crossing, with 200 magazines in tow, its no easy load. We set up shop on the main road to the ground, with dozens of coaches carrying the blue legions, sailing past incessantly.

As issues were sought by our loyal following, it came to our attention after 10 minutes we were stood, by chance, next to a Union Jack flower bed, which as you can all imagine went down quite well! It was the perfect location to sell Seventy2, with many taking a picture of two of the aforementioned flowers.

The ground itself was packed to the rafters and at one point looked as if it was moving in turn with the travelling contingent, as songs we all love and know reverberated around the terraces. Everyone will have either seen or read about the game by now and so pointless going over old ground, apart from the comments “must do better” in mind for forthcoming away games. Whilst we can enjoy the delights of Ibrox at home, I am afraid cometh the away game in this league (especially in winter months, when the surface becomes a great leveler, barring of course artificial pitches) Rangers need to grind out results and stay on top of their opponents, allowing their anticipated higher fitness levels to take hold.

The atmosphere did not suffer as a consequence of the result, with many a pleasantry exchanged in the Berwick Rangers club house, whilst even Charles Green, Kevin Kyle and Ally McCoist were handed a copy of Seventy2 to read on their prospective journeys home. Job done. If this is what an away day is like in Division three, then sign me up for some more, albeit only looking like one season.

Seventy2 was again well received with an array of positive feedback as all of us at the retro magazine continue to spread the word of our hard work.

For more information on the introductory UK rates for subscriptions, subscription orders for Europe and the Rest of the World, along with a chance to try issue 1 of Seventy2 are available at www.seventy2magazine.co.uk. Hurry though as prices will soon revert to their normal rate, due to high postage costs in the current climate!

Just signed up for the year subscription yesterday and issue one arrived in the morning post today great services.

Me too. Quality service, quality magazine. Can't wait to receive my issue 2

My only gripe is that in places there's a bit too much dark font on a dark background, which makes it hard to read in bed :pipe:

Oh, and last I saw, there was a limited-time free-postage offer on. So you'd better sign up pronto!

Actually I'm full of shit about the print - I've just looked again (in adequate lighting conditions), and there are only a few tiny isolated parts that are hard to read.

Definitely crammed full of good stuff though

I was going to say in daylight it looks fine to read.
