SPL players with expiring contracts

Recommended Posts

After seeing us *allegedly* linked with Templeton for £300,000 with one year left on his contract, I notice there's a few decent-ish (I think might be good for us) players with one year left on their contract. I know some (almost all) of these will never happen; but if we're linked with Templeton why not these:

From Hearts there is Templeton (obviously), Zaliukas, McGowan, Callum Paterson (we've been linked with according to one paper) and Driver.

Saunders from Motherwell (injured; knee), Hateley and Jamie Murphy. Killie have Bell (injured; wrist) and Liam Kelly. Dundee United have got Barry Douglas.

I must admit i've not really seen any *none* games involving any of these players but to me they seem the best of the bunch (in terms of players with <1 year on their contract). Some might be unrealistic, some might be crap but you never know.

You havent seen any of these players ever play a match?

I'd take Liam Kelly. Saw him a couple of times for Scotkand u21s. Was excellent

Hately and Murphy would be good signings as they are still fairly young and can also cover a few roles.Hately is good with set pieces also which would be a bonus.

Like the wean of Hately, although he had a chance to come before. But he can play just about everywhere on the pitch, and, as you said, is a set piece dynamo of sorts, at least in Scottish terms.

No doubt a list would have been given to Ally from the head of the scouting regards players in this position, Ally may have made enquiries and passed names forward to Charles Green as this is how it works.

Would take hately and kelly. Like templeton, but we'd see mackay or macleod dropped. I think these 2 need as much game time as poss and wouldnt want a tim taking their place

Both mackay and macleod need to be played more centrally and game time in a role they are not suited may damage their confidence and do more harm than good and young players shouldn't be playing every game as it may lead to problems long term with injuries.
