Mancini

Mancini has never really had a grip on how to handle Europe and it doesn't help that the current Man City squad is full of players who simpy aren't good enough, experienced enough or consistent enough to play for a club expected to compete at the business end of the Champions League.

Guys like Richards, Lescott, Clichy, Barry, Balotelli, Sinclair & Milner wouldn't get near a Barca, Real, Bayern or Man Utd side on a regular basis for a variety of reasons and that's the standard that Man City ultimately have to strive for.

Hart, Kompany, Zabaleta, Toure, Silva, Tevez & Aguero is a great spine/core to build around but they've never really done that in the way they should have.

Has been tactically naive in Europe and I suspected they may struggle again this year. They have some signed some great players but they have also made some very suspect signings. The money paid for players like Milner, Sinclair and Rodwell being a prime example.

The Godfather makes a good point though - the other English teams can point and laugh but would they be doing much better against Real, Dortmund and Ajax?

It's not just Europe though. They have been lucky in 2 or 3 league games this season otherwise they could be a long way off Chelsea.

Well you could look at it as lucky, or the mentality of champions (as a Man U fan that surely cant be lost on you!)

But he was poor with Inter in the Champions League despite winning 3 Serie A titles and is repeating the same feat at Manchester City.

Balotelli would if he had a chance, dont really rate Zabaleta as a right back for a CL chasing side to be honest.

But even those titles were won more or less by default. First one they actually finished third miles behind top 2, but then got the title after Juve were relegated and Milan were docked points. For the remaining two they were kind of left without serious competition and with the best team in the league and still Roma pushed them all the way in the third season. They did fuck all in Europe and we all know what happened when Mourinho took over.

I never really rated Mancini as a manager, I mean he's decent, but not top class.

Bit of an overreaction every year Mancini's been at City he's progressed the team. I don't think he's brilliant either and his European record is pretty appalling but it wouldn't be reasonable to sack him at this stage (tu)

Don't see much progress this year so far tbh.
