I think he honestly thinks he has done a good job., The mind boggles.

He has done a adequate job and nothing bad enough to be sacked.

Some of the comments in the Guardian article though today -not sure if you had the opportunity to read- were a joke. Apparently City finished second in 2011 (they didn't) and apparently the Community Shield counts as a trophy (Not really).

But so far in his two full seasons at the club he's won the Premiership and the FA Cup. If he were to do that every two years that would be fine. The big letdown has been Europe but he deserves another crack at that. Following Man Utd's capitulaton last year claiming the league is over is unwise as I learnt from experience and City are still in with a rather better chance of winning the FA Cup.

To sack him would be overreaction (tu)

His expenditure in the absence of convincing progress and adequate success is utterly obscene.

I have to disagree mate. Adequate isn't anywhere near good enough for a club who has spend around £500 million on players. Winning the league in a season that was probably the worst United performance in years wasn't great, especially as they only just won it. They have been embarrassing in Europe. Fair enough the group this year was a shocker but it's not like they only just went out, they finished rock bottom behind Ajax. The group from the year before was tough but not exactly a group of death in all honesty. A team like City should do better.

They have progressed, they've spent monumentally idiotically I've not denied that for one second but they've won a Premiership title, they've won an FA Cup, they've established themselves as a Domestic force to be reckoned with.

This summer was an absolute joke from their perspective. They'd just beaten their greatest rival to the title thanks to a 94th Minute goal that won them the title on GD and then their rivals who have dominated the league for two decades, are renowned for their ability to bounce back from setbacks and who have a winning mentality in their DNA go and buy the league's top goalscorer and best player in the summer Robin Van Persie.

And How do City respond? Sinclair, Rodwell and Garcia. Yeah when you win the league so narrowly somebody should have been rational and not all caught up in the aftermath of Agueroooooo (tu)

That's a misconception. There European performance that season hides the fact United managed 89 points in the 11/12 season which was a greater total than they managed in their title winning years of 2011 and the double winning year of 2008. It was the same points tally they got in 2007 and only one less than 2009. So weakest Man Utd performance for years doesn't really add up. In fact it was the highest points a team has ever got and not won the formation of the EPL.

Not to mention United blew an 8 point lead at the end of the season so there was a point where it looked like they could potentially beat Chelsea's record breaking 95 points.

Wouldn't disagree with you there at all they should be getting more than three points even in a competitive group they had this year and they should have qualified from last years but they still got 10 points. Mancini has never done well enough in Europe and its why he doesn't deserve to be classed a World class manager but I think he deserves one more crack at it especially considering the domestic force he's turned City into.

Already said the spending has been a joke and Mancini has to share a degree of the blame for that (tu)

Man City disgraced themselves in Europe. And as the English Champions they also disgraced their fellow teams.

Mancini in United jibe

ROBERTO MANCINI says Manchester United have been lucky in opening up their huge lead at the top of the Premier League.

City face a huge task to close their rivals’ 15-point advantage, starting at home to third-placed Chelsea today.

But Etihad boss Mancini reckons United have had the rub of the green.

And he points to December’s Manchester derby when United nicked a 3-2 win through Robin van Persie’s injury-time goal.

Mancini said: “Until now United were lucky with everything. They won a lot of games in the last minutes.”

The two teams are due to meet again at Old Trafford on April 8.

But Mancini added: “If United go forward in the Champions League the last two months will be hard for them.

“They could lose five points in two games before the derby.”

Lucky bastards!
