MuirhouseBear 291
Need a new laptop, will only be using it for browsing the web, iTunes and Football Manager. Budget is £400. Any recommendations? Would this run FM? http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-satellite-l850d-12p-15-6-laptop-white-17056577-pdt.htmlI've absolutely no idea about these things. MuirhouseBear 291
That's more than enough for FM.Positive mate? That says 1.7ghz - whatever that means, but on the back of last years FM it says vista/W7 2.0 or greater? I'm so confused

I'm so confused OK, , never take consumer advice from me... I just reread it, and it probably isn't going to be great. It'll work, but it'll be slow.1.7GHz is the processor speed, means 1.7 billion clock cycles per second, so how fast it is at its base level, but there are other things, like cache size.Vista/W7 2.0, are the versions of your OS, i.e. Windows Vista 2.0 or Windows 7 2.0 are required.I'll have a look around and see if I can find anything better for cheaper. philiprfc 1,799
Also, see if you just sit with the laptop in your room... You should consider a desktop. You just need to decide if you need the portability or not.

maverick1200 2,710
My 5 year old laptop plays fm with no trouble so a new laptop should easily play it.
Jamie0202 11,082
The Toshiba has a horrendous processor. Please do not buy. My 7 year old laptop would beat it. FM will run undoubtedly but nowhere near as good as the laptop WeDontDoWalkingAway1872 has gave you a link to. The i5 processor is a quad core and will run FM far better. Despite the fact the Toshiba has more RAM, there is more than enough on the Fujitsu that you wouldn't even notice unless you are doing largescale photo editing or running another RAM heavy process. RAM can always be upgraded anyway but you won't need to.You wont get a better laptop for the money. Trust me. Just make sure you pay with Paypal. Preferably from somewhere that has stores, rather than just online?
Jamie0202 11,082
My next recommmendation would be to use Dell however the specs in your price range are not great. Like others in this thread have said, any new laptop will play FM, but I'd seriously reconsider the Fujitsu again. I googled for reviews myself and mostly they seem fine.http://reviews.pricegrabber.co.uk/laptopsdirectcouk/r/4292/If you are worried then pay with paypal. Infact always try to use paypal when ordering anything on the internet. I don't know if you have a Paypal account but if you have any problems within 40 days of the transaction, you can lodge a dispute with Paypal and you can get your cash back. Here is the same laptop on Ebay with a decent seller.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fujitsu-LIFEBOOK-AH532-Core-i5-Laptop-VFY-AH532MR5A2GB-/130793946682#vi-contentOr if you fancy a name you've heard of:-http://www.bhsdirect.co.uk/BH_Fujitsu_Notebook_10068636/version.asp?refsource=BHfroogle&gclid=CNrDzM68srMCFSnJtAodejkAtwOh and that last one IS British Home Stores and you can access it by going through the regular site. One last thing, I wouldn't bother with the Windows 8 upgrade.
