ricksen_da_best 2,034
Hope they dont get a points deduction, it was hardly the players that sold the tickets. We for one should know, that point deductions for shite like this is over the top.A reduced rate on tickets for the next match as a goodwill gesture, and no more said about it. Big Al 55 9,205
SFL should fine them, then use the money to reimburse the fans who are left out of pocket.Lets face it the last things these teams need is loss of revenue. I know they should have though of that before selling too many overpriced tickets, perhaps if they received TV money they would have though twice as they would have had that to consider as well.Anyway IMO we still don't know enough to hang anyone as a result of the error. rangersxfc 265
The Scottish Football League Board met today to review the circumstances leading up to the postponement of the above match. As a result of this detailed review, the Board of the SFL have found Elgin City F.C. to have breached Rule 98.4 and Rule 44.5 of the organisation’s Constitution and Rules. The Club have been ordered to pay a fine of £25,000 to The Scottish Football League, £5,000 of which will be donated to a charity chosen by Rangers F.C. Elgin City F.C. have also been ordered to pay compensation to Rangers F.C. of an amount no less than the actual costs incurred by that club in the preparation and planning of this match, these expenses to be satisfactorily vouched to the Board of the SFL. The Scottish Football League would like to stress in the strongest terms that safety of fans is our number one priority, and that all clubs must adhere to the officially sanctioned ground capacity as agreed with the Authorities. The date of the rearranged match will be announced later this week. ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
I don't get why they have to give money to a charity of Rangers choice? No charity got fucked about here the Rangers fans that planned on traveling up did.Apart from that the SFL make the SFA and the SPL look like amateurs the way they have dealt with this
Blue and True 311
25000 quid 5000 of which goes to a charity of Rangers choice. In all honesty it seems a bit harsh to me.15000 would have been about right.

scarkev 3,540
If it was the SPL it would be a public stoningIf it was the SPL it would be next month before any decision and they'd have to see what lord lawell thought was a suitable punishment.I think this is a fair punishment though I would prefer to see those fans put out of pocket compensated in some way but I quess the admin of that would be a nightmare...done and dusted with no made up (illegal) sanction...SPL take note! foghorn leghorn 608
Is the SFL going to be the new SPL and vent vengence on a club trying to make a fast buck?Elgin will lose money because lots of Bears won't want to travel to a re-arranged match on a week night and probably ESPN won't fancy it either.I think Elgin will suffer enough, so a small fine should be ok and no loss of points. Peasie 103
£5000 to charity? What about using that to refund the fans who lost out on hotel bookings? The £5,000 to charity of Rangers choice is probably a gesture for those fans that have lost out. The practicalities of refunding everyone would rule it out so this looks like a sort of gesture on their behalf.
