Bear78 96
As far as I know, that was the first ever sponsor... 1985 or 86 maybe. Cheers
sergio 1,199
It's hard to think of the stadium being called anything else, but if the deal makes sense for the Club and the money is spend developing the surrounding area, then I would go for it ... would still be Ibrox for me
ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
Right i cannot read that font so have not read it but, do you not think the journo has just put 2 & 2 together because of St James park got changed to the sports direct arena? How can you have to sports direct arenas?
bouncin' bear 617 28
Rename Ibrox?I'm sorry, not for ANY amount of money, not for this Bear, get that tae Fuck. After all we've been through as a club and as a support over the last 9 months? We are a club,an institution built on tradition,it's not just a name,it's the name of OUR stadium,IBROX STADIUM,one of the finest, oldest, most famous football grounds in world football.I accept that in modern football it's all about the money(sadly),but you have to draw the line somewhere. We are all aware that we could have lost our club recently and some might say because of that "What's the bigdeal about the name on the stadium? At least we still have Rangers."I say if they take away the name of our stadium..What is the fuckin' point? That's how much the name IBROX means to me. trueblue68 2,497
We don't need this nor should we welcome it. Ibrox forever.
Stoorie 1,090
Are CGs people testing the water here?I like him and the vision he portrays for the future, but........................Don't fuck about with our club. You'll lose.
ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
Charles Green said he wouldn't name the stadium the sports direct arena he would go with a more traditional name whatever that means?
PRW. 5,631
Shove it right up yer arse Ashley and co.No thanks.History > ££'s
TMB 14,167
It won't be '£10m a season'. It'd be more like £10m over 10 seasons I imagine. If Ashley offered Mr.Green £10m for the right to rename the stadium I think he'd bite his hand off. What would be done with the money gained is the real question. TheBluebells 6,898
Id believe it more if it spoke in quoted money terms.I guess when it comes to making money, every avenue needs to be at least explored.
OzGers 425
I say go for it - It will still be Ibrox to the fans, and we will get some well needed funds to strengthen the team and club, which is ultimately what we all want.
ca11um 30
I wish apple could buy the naming right because then we wouldn't need a name change - iBrox And as well as More Than A Fan I do wonder what Charles means by "going with a more traditional name"
Wilbert 416
If we get top dollar for it I wouldn't mind it tbh as we would still all call it Ibrox
BawdeepLoyal 94
They can call it whatever they want - at the end of the day, my father will still call it Ibrox, I will still call it Ibrox and my children have learned to call it Ibrox. The only reason is that when the media print the name, they are expected to use the sponsored name.My mates family are all Toon fans - at first they weren't too happy, but when they realised it was a paper exercise they were happy to take the cash and move forward as normal. gersandy 594
Not one rangers fan will agree with this. So we'll see how Green reacts.
tango 341
Not one rangers fan will agree with this. So we'll see how Green reacts.Green will do what he wants,he doesn't give a fuck for our tradition he is here to make money and would sell his soul for a poundTo be honest I don't have a problem with renaming the stadium ,but it should be a short term deal and for plenty of cash

IanFerguson2012 123
No thanks. Maybe you can't do this if it's a listed building so no signs on the red brick facade? Not a good idea.
Bluepeter9 5,167
we will always call it ibrox but in current economic climate deals like this have to be considered.

Agoram1 42
I'd actually find it hard going back with it being renamed as THAT. That's a little dramatic. It will still be rangers playing
