RANGERS Manager Ally McCoist has congratulated James Arthur on his X Factor win last night and invited the lifelong Bluenose to be his guest at a game in the near future.

James, 24, beat Jahmene Douglas in the live final in Manchester yesterday and now Ally is extending a personal invitation to the X Factor star to meet him and the players at Murray Park and take a well–earned bow at Ibrox Stadium.

The Club has been in contact with James throughout his remarkable X Factor journey and a number of players, including captain Lee McCulloch who is sending James a signed Rangers top, have sent their support on Twitter.

James, mentored by Pussy Cat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, looks set to claim the coveted Christmas number 1 slot in the charts with his rendition of Impossible by Shontelle.

Ally says he can’t wait to meet the X Factor star. He told rangers.co.uk: “I have been watching James throughout his X Factor journey and on behalf of everyone at Rangers Football Club I would like to congratulate him on his stunning victory.

“I watched the Final last night and he was different class. Jahmene was also very good but I am delighted James won the competition and I look forward to welcoming him to Ibrox and Murray Park when he has time.

“It has been a rollercoaster ride for James but he was a deserved winner and I know the players can’t wait to meet him as well.

“He and his family are lifelong Rangers fans and I am sure the supporters will give James a well-earned ovation at Ibrox when he is able to take in a game.”
