Players distance themselves from Rangers employment tribunal claim

Current and former Rangers players have moved to distance themselves from employment tribunal claims that have been raised against the club.

A share prospectus issued by the Ibrox club on Friday revealed that two separate cases had been opened against Rangers relating to the transfer of player contracts when Charles Green’s consortium bought assets from the old company.

The prospectus said that union PFA Scotland had raised a claim on behalf of 67 players complaining that Rangers old and newco had not correctly explained the transfer of contracts under TUPE rules.

McCulloch, currently captain of Rangers, took to Twitter to say that he had no involvement with the action being raised against the club.

“For everyone asking, I'm not involved in the 67 people and if my name is there it will be getting taken off,” he tweeted.

PFA Scotland have declined to comment.

Wylde was one of the first players to leave Ibrox after Rangers appointed administrators earlier this year. The winger, who later signed for Bolton Wanderers, said that he was uncomfortable with taking a wage while redundancies were a possibility at the club.

Though no longer a Rangers player, Wylde also used Twitter to deny any involvement.

He said: “For all those Rangers fans asking, no, I am not involved. Cannot believe someone would want to do that.”

The Rangers share prospectus also detailed a separate claim from Sone Aluko, Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ness, stating that the three were claiming “constructive dismissal” at Ibrox when they left before signing with other clubs.

Aluko claimed to have no knowledge of the claim on Monday evening, tweeting: “Generic response to so many tweets to. Can't explain something I wasn't aware of till u all started tweeting me about it!! Will find out.”

It is beggining to appear that the SPFA have overstepped their bounds by taking action on behalf of players, without actually checking with the players themselves fi they wanted this to happen.

Certainly raises questions over the SPFA ethics, wonder how Fraser Wishart, a man I have alot of time for, will explain this?

THE Scottish Professional Footballers Association is set to make a statement this afternoon outlining their legal bid to claim wages for 67 Rangers players following the summer's Ibrox crisis.

The club face a potential employment tribunal in relation to an alleged failure to inform and consult over the transfer of contracts from the old company to Charles Green's new company.

Record Sport revealed this morning how 18 current players have been caught up in the wrangle with Lee McCulloch stating his desire to distance himself from any employment tribunal.

Former Ibrox players Sone Aluko, Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ness have raised separate constructive dismissal claims.

Rangers lawyers' believe Green's case is watertight but the SPFA bosses have raised an employment tribunal claim and will make a statement this afternoon.
