Brilliant from the Club.

I still maintain the belief they should look to get RTV back on mainstream TV on Sky, Freeview (top up TV etc).

Through PPV and subscription packages for away games (if it's possible next season) we would made a killing.

Fantastic. I thought the game was on RTV yesterday - got settled to watch it only to find it wasn't (idiot - misread the advert for the game and assumed it was on RTV).

Question - probably been asked before but can't find the thread - why can Rangers not broadcast the sound commentary over the internet so that we could listen to it as though it was a radio broadcast. Do the TV rights contracts prevent us doing our own internet radio commentary broadcast?

Sounds like a good idea, there's more folk got access to Freeview than anything else, without having to pay any additional package costs.

Would we not have to get permission from SFA? You know what their answer would be!

By the way, how do I get this game? I subscribe to RTV but couldn't see a link.

It would be a great idea mate and one I might try and put across to the Club if possible.

You know what internet connections are like these days. Aye, they're fast at times, but some are unreliable. Having RTV back on mainstream TV would be great for the fans, home and abroad, and the Club.

Say you charged the regular price of £6 PPV game. 18 away games in a year (not counting potential cup clashes, I doubt we'd have rights to them anyway), you're talking £108 from one supporter for the season. On top of that say they are also a ST holder, £350 + two jerseys = £80. In total, that supporter is paying £538 to the Club alone. I'm not saying EVERY supporter will do this and so on but you can be guaranteed that around 90% of the ST holders at Ibrox will be the same. Going by this seasons ST sales, that would be roughly 34200 people.

If they 34200 each paid £538 per season for ST, merchandise and RTV away games, you're looking at £18,399,600 all in... and that's without considering any non-ST holders paying £108 for away game viewing on TV. The figures for away games alone if ST holders took it up (37k) would be circa £4m. 200,000 plus went to Manchester, we all know that, and if they 200,000 all took it up that's £21m  Ok, maybe that's a bit unrealistic but you have to speculate to accumulate.

It's an avenue the Club should explore again, especially for the UK fanbase. The overseas Bears seem happy with the RTV coverage and if there are no problems there then fine, let them stick to that. It might be difficult to get an RTV TV channel to them anyway.

It's definitely something worth exploring.
