WATP-FOREVER 5,231
Here you go - for those that canny access:(very good, & fuck craig burley - he looks like a tim, acts like a tim and has a tim agenda).________________________________________It is interesting to read the words of former Celtic player Craig Burley writing in the Daily Record. Burley now has a column in Scotland’s biggest tabloid. In his column, he states that Rangers should move on and Charles Green, Rangers CEO, should let common sense prevail. Craig also thinks that Charles Green’s comments that Rangers do not want to be fast tracked back to the tired old SPL are folly. What Craig does not realise is that time is on the side of Rangers and not the SPL. Rangers have a unique opportunity to travel a road they have never trekked before. The chance for Rangers to win promotion is something that the club has never savoured and to move up through the divisions with the menu changing every season is one that the Rangers support is looking forward to. In the old days Rangers fans looked from atop as the so-called smaller teams won their right to play in the top flight. The shoe is now on the other foot and it is Rangers who must challenge for the right to progress through the leagues. If Rangers are to move on, then what becomes of the transfer embargo, the loss of revenue from the players that moved on? Alan McGregor, Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker and all the rest who chose to jump ship. Are Rangers to forget all the lost millions in revenue? Forget the loss of reputation and just climb back into bed with the SPL? Who is going to fund this? Rangers have a transfer embargo; a European ban of three seasons and the SPL are still trying to hand Rangers titles to Celtic. Is Craig seriously saying that Rangers and their support should go back to the SPL with a team of so-called ‘kids and mediocre professionals’? Craig’s word’s not mine. The support has clearly stated that it backs the team and will continue to support it in huge numbers, over forty nine thousand for a fourth tier league game. And in time Rangers will move on. The support has already made it clear that it has no appetite for playing any of the old SPL teams, hence the Scottish Cup boycott of Dundee United. Rangers returning to the SPL would be a step backwards for the club and separation is needed for the time being.Rangers in the SPL would hamper the recovery of the club. Even in the third division Rangers fans have been accused falsely of singing banned songs by a journalist working in the MSM, only to receive a half-hearted apology hidden on the day of the result of the FTT case. The press still seem content to print lies about the club. Can you imagine what they would be saying if Rangers were to move back now?Perhaps the real reason Craig wants Rangers back in the SPL is a selfish one. Craig works for ESPN and the viewing figures for the SPL are in free fall; perhaps Craig is worrying more about his own future rather than that of Rangers.Rangers must not squander the chance to let youth flourish. A move to the SPL would curtail the development of the young players coming through, as winning would be seen as a priority. Rangers will benefit from the journey up the leagues with youth getting the chance and home grown talent playing their part. Rangers returning to the SPL would only benefit the money men but hopefully common sense will prevail and Charles Green will see the sense in Rangers remaining where they are and that taking the fast track and the fast buck will in real terms slow the growth of the clubRead more at http://thisisfutbol....AqXrHIDWvVhW.

Dutchy 1,200
I agree with all things said in that article, but more than anything, we should work our way back up through the divisions as this is indeed a great opportuntiy for us to bring back youth into our plans. We should not accept, neither are we asking for any 'fast tracking' back to the league from hell, which most clubs and their fans showed exactly whet they thought of us when the went ferral with their cries of cheats to get us where they've put us.They probably thought we'd die, and some may lie to claim that we have, but by fuck, they'd like our crowds back if they could. So let them GTF, and we'll look after ourselves thank you very much. They should be concentrating on looking after themselves as it's them that look to be in more trouble than us.
jcb 1,167
Very good article.Who would gain from Rangers return to the SPL or SPL2, certainly not the club they voted out their league only a few months ago on the grounds of sporting integrity. The Rangers support stand alone in that by attending games in SFL3 we are doing what we said would, how are the attendances for the "top tier" ?,despite the inexplicable promotion of Dundee (thus giving them not only the "dundee derby" but games v St Johnstone & Aberdeen) i am not seing the solidarity they promised would occur following the vote on our membership. No doubt the reduction in not only Television revenue but sponsorship & hospitality will hit certain clubs more than others, and our accelerated return will help address this, but surely any restructuring should be based on merit and not their own selfish reasons.Sporting integrity and all that.Looking forward to SFL2 then SFL1. Carsons Dog 9,878
We should work our way up cos it's the right thing to doDon't know about anyone else but I really enjoyed yesterday's game and there have been a good few this season like thatFuk the SPL
bornabear 6,275
Great article and a very truthful one.Yes, Burley's only looking after his own interests and that of his employer ESPN.The biggest FACT to emerge from yesterday's game, and not for the first time, is that WE had a bigger crowdfor an AWAY game than 2 SPL games. That really shows the SPL is suffering from a slow lingering death.
