loyalandtrueblue 69
I am a great fan of the Union Bears and the Blue Order, especially as they bring a much needed element to Ibrox, namely fun and atmosphere.Let's be honest, how many of us older Bears would love to be activley involved? My nephew would love me to be involved, but i am afraid sadly that those looney days are gone, but as i told him and his mates their efforts are greatly appreciated by everyone in Ibrox! The danger is that sometimes they can and do get carried away, the folly of youth i am afraid and we have all been there at one time or another! Now before anyone thinks i am casting aspertions then please let me explain my thinking.Again through my nephew and his mates i know just how enamoured they are with some of the supporters from the continent, and yes it does look impressive, especially some of the Turkish or Greek supporters with their flares, flags and smoke bombs etc.. but as i have tried to explain to them you have to remember that those countries have very different laws and tollerances shown towards them than we have.To go beyond those laws and rules will only backfire on them and the good name of the club! The problem lies when you have a couple of hundred young teenagers and a few within them will try and push the boundries now and again, and being teenagers caught up in the excitment, they will get carried away and follow suit! Then the problems will arise and we as a support and club will suffer the consequences.I myself see no harm in certain songs or banners,i would be a complete hypocrite if i did?Again we have to follow the laws of the land, whether we agree with them or not.Not to do so will stir up the hornets nest within the mhedia, who wait to jump on any silly or petty issue that could cause us harm!We have to be clever and devious to the extent where we know where the boundries lie and not cross them.Play them at their own game so to speak!Surely we can find peaceful, legal ways of making our voices and complaints known and challenge the apparent crazy laws that limit our own free speach? The point i am trying to make is maybe it is time for stricter self policing within the UB and BO?I don't want bully boy techniques displayed but maybe fines, banning from the groups etc.. if anyone continues to step out of line?Who knows? maybe if policed correctly certain individuals within the club will actually agree to the sections being increased and the full front of the Broomloan can be used to great effect? We cannot allow all the good work we have done to clean up our image, which was unfairly and wrongly, tarred and slurried with a bigoted brush, which as we all know was nowhere near the truth and in no way reflected the overall Rangers support!Does anyone agree? or have their own sollutions to sort this out before it does get out of hand further down the line? Blumhoilann 6,715
While I agree with 'self-policing' for me the problem will arise when the powers that be move the goalposts once again in their never ending persecution of football fans. Getstiffed 8,863
When theres a guy outside the ground being the victim of fraud, theft, you name it and the police are only interested in nasty words and peoples fucking sensibilities, its no wonder people are pissed off.Sticks and stones ffs
Bluepeter9 5,167
The problem with self - policing is it doesn't really happen, we would like to pretend it does but it doesn't.The other issue is what would they self police - if some of the fans think the laws of the land are wrong does self-policing allow those fans to break the law because 'they' agree. What then is there to self police ? Who draws this line in the sand -you, me, those who disagree with the laws of the land?
loyalandtrueblue 69
I agree wholeheartedly with all of your sentiments, but it will take time for the laws to be changed i suspect, so in the meantime why attract any negativity to our support. We have the chance to do something constructive which will no doubt reflect favourablly upon the UB and TBO. hugh_capet 341
Good in theory but are you going to risk a punch in the nose off a young ned? I know I'm not. Let the polis deal with them

Brian Fantana 28,894
self policing of sorts already exists - you hear someone singing something that is deemed by law to be offensive - you grass them up. that doesn't work and i don't see how anything else would.the police are trying to use shock tactics - heavy sentences, name and shame in papers for those charged with sectarianism, this won't work either.Long term, the whole singing songs with F*nian or whatever in them will die away over the next few generations, it already is.Personally i wouldn't go grassing someone for singing something that others deem inappropriate, i don't pay ticket money to watch over other cunts, i pay to see Rangers and for those shoddy bastards in police uniforms to sort out their own shite. five stars 1,767
Football fans in the UK are way better behaved than 10 or 20 years ago. The behaviour of people at a game in general is no worse than at any other large gathering of people like a concert or music festival. Why do we need so many police at football, could we not replace them with more helpful stewards? A club has to pay for the policing, if you go to a concert there is nowhere near as many police around, would more steward less police not be cheaper. The_Blue_Flash 390
I was on the march, loads of bears, lots of them took on jobs as kinda stewards on the walk, and there was no an arrest that day?I think maybe a few bears as stewards or bear policemen would help, sadly the level of people who dislike Rangers are in many positions of power just leads to days like last night
TheBluenose1972 1,405
This is how self policing should work... These guys from countries around the world DO NOT need to be told how to behave from stewards or police at the football, they police themselves.
