RANGERS have been dealt a blow with news that regular back-up goalkeeper Scott Gallacher is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Neil Alexander’s deputy has been missing from the matchday squad for the last two games against Montrose and Annan Athletic with the problem.

And after being assessed, it has been determined that the 23-year-old has damaged ligaments meaning he is out for the foreseeable future.

Gallacher has made several appearances for Tommy Wilson’s reserves this season but is yet to make a first-team appearance.

He has, however, spent time on loan at both Cowdenbeath and Forfar in the past, making eight appearances for the Blue Brazil then 29 for Athletic.

Filling in for Gallacher at present is Blair Currie and he will once again be in the squad for Saturday’s Third Division trip to play Elgin City at Borough Briggs
