"I’ve got big hands - God gave them to me so I can grab a lot of money.”

Old news, so sorry if it's a repost wasn't on here last night and haven't been on here most of today either.

CHARLES GREEN last night told Rangers fans: I WILL rename Ibrox.

Gers chief Green confirmed his plans as the club’s shares began trading on the Stock Exchange.

Many Gers fans protested at the proposal during the 3-0 win over Annan on Tuesday night. Gaffer Ally McCoist wants supporters consulted before the name is changed.

Green, having raised £22million from Gers’ share issue, has pledged to push on with the lucrative renaming scheme.

He said: “There is more chance of the naming rights being sold than me being called Gladys Green, I can tell you that.

“I have said from day one that providing it is legal I’ll do it to bring money into Rangers.

“I’m a Yorkshireman, I’ve got big hands — God gave them to me so I can grab a lot of money.”

Experts reckon Gers could land £6m over four years if they sold the naming rights.

Green — famous for his cry of Rangers Then, Rangers Now, Rangers Forever — is desperate to raise more cash despite getting £17m from investors and £5m from fans. Gers have sold 37,000 season-tickets at reduced prices and Green revealed he will increase prices next term.

He added: “If we believe because we have £30m in the bank that Charles Green should go and lie on a beach for two years while it gets frittered away, I’m happy to do that.

“I don’t think that’s right for Rangers.

“I go back to the dark days when we had people lined up who were keen to come in and get behind Rangers, but because of all the badness going on they did not want their brand associated with us.

“Now we’ve a platform to build with this brand. This is not a dodgy Charles Green scheme.

“It has had scrutiny from the Stock Exchange and auditors and it has been an endorsement of everything Rangers is about.

“Ask yourself how many clubs in Europe are sitting with no debt, no borrowings and £25m cash and you would be lucky to count more than a handful, yet that is where we are at.”

Newcastle owner and Gers investor Mike Ashley raised £1.5m-a-year by changing the name of St James’ Park to the Sports Direct Arena but he was forced to change it back after fans’ protests.

Here's another cracker.......

"Many Gers fans protested at the proposal during the 3-0 win over Annan on Tuesday night"

Out of a crowd in excess of 42k how many actually protested?

Methinks he got a hold of the Seville calculator :moon:

He's done well, but he's far from a position where he will be telling fans what he will and won't be doing with the club.

re naming isnt popular with me, but as CEO it's his duty to maximise revenue for the club.

Or maybe some people would like a CEO of the Martin Bain mould.

"Experts reckon Gers could land £6m over four years if they sold the naming rights."

This is realistic given where we are and puts to end those silly threads about £10-15 million being floated around. £1-1.5 million a season is what I'd have expected.

So thats about 0.005%!!!! :peanut: Mental. "Those protests saw 8 arrests as trouble flared wafter clashes with police", what a load of shite.

Renaming is going to happen.

It will be done in the interest of the club in the end.

We are allowing this to be used as a stick to beat us with by those who hate us.

We almost died not so long ago. Have we learned nothing?

We MUST build the brand and cash reserves. End of.

As the americans say, 'it's a no brainer'.
