LeeWallaceRFC 3,920
DUNDEE United and Rangers have made their peace over how proceeds will be split for their Scottish Cup clash at Tannadice in February and an area of the stadium will be set aside for away supporters, despite the Ibrox club’s decision to refuse a ticket allocation for the match.United had initially been reluctant to split the gate money with Rangers due to the boycott, which was called as a result of the way Rangers believe they were treated in being frozen out of the SPL, but have accepted a ruling from the SFA that receipts should be divided in the usual manner. The Tannadice club will now lower prices to £15 for adults and £5 concessions for the 2 February tie.“Reduced admission prices have been agreed in a constructive dialogue with Rangers,” a club statement explained. “A section of the stadium will be reserved for those Rangers fans who wish to attend,” a club statement added.Dundee United director Derek Robertson added: “While we remain disappointed with the position of Rangers in respect of not taking any tickets for this match, we will not make any statements which may inflame the situation, particularly to avoid encouraging any hostility between our two sets of supporters. Now that ticket prices have been agreed, we hope that everyone can now focus on what matters most; a game of football.“Although Rangers do not wish to take a ticket allocation for this match, opposition fans are always welcome at Tannadice and we will be happy to reserve an appropriate section of the stadium for any Rangers fans who wish to attend this fixture.”http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spl/dundee-united-and-rangers-in-ticket-deal-1-2704283

I expect the police will step in and ban away supporters - this tie has powder-keg written all over it.And wtf do they mean by 'our' two sets of supporters? It happened the last time we boycotted Tannadice after the Cup tie got abandoned, reduced ticket prices meant people who normally can't afford to go take advantage. Presumably, the price was originally going to be higher. What the article states is just that they are charging £15 now that could just as in the last mean that they have reduced what would have been a cost fro Rangers fans. What is the norm for a game against a div 3 team £16 to £18 so really not a great discount.I think Rangers agreed to this knowing it will make them look a bunch of tits the home team that is...............because the club have refused tickets and they the home team know, they cannot fill the away end.As someone much wiser than me said in this thread(or was it another fred)........any Rangers follower buying a ticket for this really does need to take a good long look in the mirror as see the face of a misguided bluenose. I don't think they're misguided or deserve to be assaulted (as someone said above), they're just people who normally can't afford to go.
