Why is there no radio commentary of our games?

We are forced to bankroll the bbc and yet instead of being able to listen to the biggest team in the country playing we have to put up with the drivel of cosgrove and cowan :anguish:

Good question.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the SFL having tied up radio contracts prior to our admission and there's something in there to block it. Then again, if it benefits both parties, why not renegotiate? Perhaps radio is seen as a dying media, given the preponderance of video feeds these days.

Very good point. I'm absolutely not interested in listening to the BBC though as, in my view, they have shown themselves to be anti-Rangers and I simply do not trust their BBC Scotland football coverage and I have lost all respect for them. But I would subscribe to Ranger internet radio. I do not understand why we cannot have the RTV commentary also broadcast over the internet as sound only (equivalent of radio) so that those Bears who cannot get RTV because the game is on some other TV network could still listen to the radio commentary. Or where, like today, RTV was available for a fee, then fans could still listen to the sound commentary for a smaller fee via the RTV channel.

A lot of good points, so I slightly regret pointing out where I disagree-the bit in bold. I think there is a definite difference in those commentary formats. Audio only requires more description.

As you say I'm sure if they really wanted it to happen it would

Some of the commentary today consisted of " who was number 1 in the charts this week in 1980?"

I watched the last half hour and still didnt know who we had at CB and RB. They would seriously need to change their style.

Would have been blinding on the radio today, with Tom Miller going into pub quiz mode 'who died ten years ago today, aged 50', 'today's the 35th birthday of someone who made just one appearance for Rangers', etc!

Rangers Radio would be fantastic.

Being an old codger I listen to the Radio constantly on the move at work and when working on my mp3 .

Used to listen to Real Radio before Ewin left but since then Talksport.

Rangers radio would be fantastic , could have up to date News with JT and interviews with Players Ally and CG .

Up to minute news for the Fans would be brilliant.

Is it not because the BBC only have the licience to cover the SPL and Cup games?

Clyde used to cover the SPL game but lost the bid.

Could be an opportunity for them (ahem) or some other station to cover the games although I suppose they'd be branded as Radio Rangers

There's a market for someone though

Rangers Radio Sounds good to me! We don't even get a mention on the news which is annoying (all SPL) First second div sides dont get mentioned but there not Rangers,Scotland's biggest and best supported club.

Yeah...lack of interest in such a low league....the third division is pish and no one really cares about it...... cept the sides who are in it... but it a lowly division and like I said, there isn't much interest in it.

It's just the way things are tbh... we are in it and as such a good few WANT more coverage... you never know, maybe it will happen after a while.... but I doubt it as the sway has ALWAYS been in favour of the country's top league.... which at present is still the spl crap.
