Frank Lampard - Would you give him a new contract?

Recommended Posts

There's a debate on Talksport there about Frank and whether or not Chelsea should give him (and Cole) a new contract. It's looking unlikely that they will but the guy has earned one surely? He has been outstanding for Chelsea for over a decade and is still one of the best attacking mid's in the Premiership.

Thoughts on Frank?

Of course he should be, his worth was proved last Sunday with his double against Everton.

He doesn't have to be played week-in-week-out, but for games like Sunday his experience and goals are absolutely vital.

As for Cole, well if he isn't given a new contract then I'll lose all faith in football. On his day, he's still the best left back in world football bar none, if Chelsea don't give him a new deal I'll cry.

Indeed, I think Abramovich blames Cole and Lampard (and Terry) for the AVB disaster. Whatever, it would be crazy to get rid of them both.

According to Jason Cundy Frank is rumoured to be willing to accept a £100,000 a week pay cut.

In that case it should not even be a question then.

I think they are afraid of another Malouda situation where they won't leave and are happy to be on big wages although with Frank that wouldn't happen.

Cole is the best LB in England IMO and replacing him with a very ordinary Bertrand is not going to go well for Chelsea.

I think he could be invaluable when De Bruyne comes back, learning you're trade from one of the best in Frank could do nothing but help.

I have watched the lad at Bremen and I reckon he could be every bit as good as Frank in the future if he gets the chance, although at Chelsea you pretty much need to be a ready moulded product to be given the chance.

Two things came to mind: Will the Gers afford to pay him? Second, what makes him willing to play for the Gers? I read some Jiggy's tweets that he would love to play with Lampard on the same team.
