Charles Green talksport interview.

The re-strusture would create a new league system, with two leagues of 12 teams and a third of 18 below them, and Green believes that while it may be a great business plan, Rangers will not benefit from the scheme and would be better off moving to England.

“If what we’re seeing is the future of Scottish football, I would advise my board to explore the options of leaving Scottish football,” Green told Keys and Grey.

“As chief executive of the club, my obligations are the club’s shareholders and its fans and I couldn’t recommend that the long-term best interest of Rangers is served by remaining in Scottish football.”

Green believes that even a move to the English Conference [blue Square Premier League] would ensure a higher quality of football compared to the Scottish Third Division, and he feels the acceptance of Welsh teams into the England pryamid means Scottish clubs should also be accepted.

“Under the current structures, there aren’t many options," he added."We’ve looked at the English league where people have said Scottish clubs aren’t allowed in.

We could go and join the Conference and we would be in a higher league that we’re in now, it doesn’t matter to me

“Well, let’s kick Cardiff out and kick Swansea out of the English Premier League, because they’re in a different country. So are we saying Wales is fine but Scotland isn’t?

“We could go and join the Conference and we would be in a higher league that we’re in now, it doesn’t matter to me.

“If Rangers fans want to comment, if the option and the only option is to go into English football and start at the lowest level, I believe Rangers fans would support that.

“The fans are behind the club and I believe they would follow the club wherever we went.”

I agree with the sentiments but he is going down the wrong track with Cardiff and Swansea. They didn't move into the English league structure they are a part of it with the blessing of FIFA. When Newport County went bust they were initially denied entry to the English league pyramid structure and were only accepted when they moved into England to play their games and that was only because they were previously part of the structure.

UEFA have stopped the 6 Welsh clubs in the English pyramid from qualifying for Europe via the Welsh Cup. There are a few interesting cross border clubs here.
