Gregor Stevens Fan Club 42
Why should the winners of Div3 be involved in the Div2 play-offs ??
OlegKuznetsov 10,816
Why should the winners of Div3 be involved in the Div2 play-offs ??They were promised promotion, as were Stranraer in 1994.Furthermore, the SFA/SPL new plan effectively states that there is no significant difference between Division 2 & 3. Sweeney 241
Think this is a good idea. Would ensure sporting merit is achieved as seems so important to everybody at the moment whilst not being entirely about us as its extremely possible we wouldn't win the 4 games.Minor thing entirely irrelevant to your point, Bottom two in Div 3 don't get relegated/play off relegation as you have stated above. govanblue 16,847
Easier solution:Don't reconstruct this year. Announce concrete reconstruction plans for the following season at the end of this season.

I'd copied & pasted that bit. I've now fixed it.Also fixed the RR/Stranraer mistake.

Announce concrete reconstruction plans for the following season at the end of this season. That too is better than rushing through the current plan mid season. My idea is based on the likelihood they want to push it through anyway. nelsonRFC82 305
Possibly include Team I (copyright Oleg )from SFL1, therefore giving you 8 teams in the play off, which makes for a more natural knockout style competition. This will never even be considered simply because Rangers would be one of the 8 teams...in any other year, I bet it would at least be discussed! cushynumber 25,178
Good post. Its amazing how much we have to go out of our way to show we are aren't being "fast tracked " and its funny how the Gers fans are dead against "fast tracking" and yet we keep hearing in the papers "Rangers wont be fast tracked in this reconstruction".I dunno who they are trying to convince. Jamie0202 12,960
I like it and would make the situation slightly less farcical. The bad thing which obviously isn't your fault is that in the end we'd still end up with a fucked up 12,12 splitting to 8, 8 and 8. Thinker 31
I think a lot of people have independently come to a similar, sensible conclusion. Personally, I'd bring the bottom Div 1 team into it too, and go with:Play off round 1:Match 1: Team J, Div 1 vs. Team D, Div 3Match 2: Team B, Div 2 vs. Team C, Div 3Match 3: Team C, Div 2 vs. Team B, Div 3Match 4: Team D, Div 2 vs. Team A, Div 3Play off round 2:Match 5: Winner Match 1 vs. Winner Match 4Match 6: Winner Match 2 vs. Winner Match 3The winners of matches 5 and 6 are promoted into the new second flight alongside Team A, Div 1.Plus points:+ There's no disruption to the current fixtures (same number of play-offs as announced at the start of the season, that can be played on the scheduled dates).+ The Div 3 teams have to establish their "sporting merit" by beating the Div 2 teams over two legs.+ All the bitter bastards out there get a chance to cheer on whoever we're playing against.I could write something far more convincing on why 12-12-18 is a shit idea though...
