Pre-contract signings

this time last year I recall Ally and the management team were quite vocal on who we were attempting to sign, only to lose out on a number of these...

This time around, it seems extremely quiet and whilst the rags have tentatively linked us to every scottish player out of contract, none have either come to fruitition or seem to have any truth (i.e murphy who stated he never approached him)

My question is, has Ally learnt from last season and now keeping his cards close to his chest? Or is it a case of the restructure and uncertainity in scottish football actually to a point that we are struggling to attract the right kind of player?

Obviously we have been successful in luring the likes of temps, black, fran and even foreigners to come play for us in the lowest tier, however could it be that perhaps they were given assurances that we would be back in the SPL much quicker than 3 seasons?

That's the best way to go about it, keep your cards close to your chest and don't let anyone know what you're planning on doing in case it has a negative effect on things. Ally and the rest of the staff will be working around the clock at the possibilities of new signings.

On the other hand the shite of revamping the leagues etc may well hinder us. If players like temps etc can live with it then im sure others can. This is a chance to be involved in one of the most exciting times in Rangers history.

We can't register them till September mate

yes, very true, however players signing new contracts would not be starting with their clubs until June so presumably a few months (most of which is pre-season) should not be a stumbling block

It wont hinder us at all to be honest. If the league re construction doesn't go ahead we'll still have to wait another two seasons to be back in the top league. The whole league re construction is balls though and they should leave it the way it is.
