Dumped to 4th tier of Serie C2 in 2002-2003:

1 Florentia Viola 34 20 10 4 56-20 70 30 Riganò (4 pen)

2 Rimini 34 16 11 7 35-21 59

Won by "only" 11 points, lost 4 games, back in the Champions League 5 years later. i continue to look at Fiorentina as a club who previously walked the walk and it was not all plain sailing.

just as a matter of interest, did they introduce a new style of football? did they learn the basics all over again, and get the players training full time? did they only win by 11 points because they were trying something different? or did they win by only 11 points because they played the same shite brand of football and just turned up when they could be arsed? bottom line - did they have a 4 year vision on what they were going to be doing, or did they just win all the divisions and hope that they could sign the best players when they got to the top?

What a nonsensical comparison. They retained 1 top level player [Di Vaio] whilst we've retained Alexander, Wallace, McCulloch. We supplemented that with Black, Kyle, Templeton, Sandaza, Cribari. They signed lower level players to help them win Serie C2 [Christian Rigano, a complete low-league journeyman scored 30 goals in 32 games].

The Italian FA then helped them by skipping 1 league and they played Serie B with again, a team full of youth supplemented by players who played for lower Serie A teams/Serie B teams.

Only once they were back in Serie A did they make any decent signings - Toni / Frey and they got Cesare Prandelli in - an experienced and quality manager.

I would accept these fucking disgusting performances from Rangers if we had a team full of Division 2/3 players with Alexander/Wallace and rest made up of youth. We don't. We have the 2nd highest wage in Scotland and are being outfought, out ran and at times outplayed by guys no better than who I play football with. It's a disgrace.

This. What we seen today was unacceptable on all levels. Change is needed in the summer including management and players.

They lower league players would probably have still won the SPL

This isn't a relevant comparison IMO, we are really pish on the park, sheer lack of cohesion. Regardless of points, that is a big worry and it does not seem to be getting addressed at present.

Yes we have a limited squad to some extent, but there is no consistency on any level, especially since this is the 3rd division.

yep have to agree with you there

for me it has set off alarm bells for how we are gonna get on in a higher division...we're only just scraping thru against div 3 teams.

how long can performances, such as what we have seen consistantly this season, be tolerated without some major overhaul of the direction the club is going on the ptich?

I always thought Div 3 would be a great chance for a real rebirth for Rangers, an opportunity to develop some attractive and winning football stratagies on the ptich.

build the club from the bottom up with an eye on where we are going in the future

but instead we have been shown up by part timers over and over again

something is fundementally wrong within the culture of the current Rangers squad. where is their desire? their commitment? their will to do their best?

i think your comment fits nicely into the definition of Hubris

Hubris (pron.: /ˈhjuːbrɪs/), also hybris, from ancient Greek ὕβρις, means extreme pride or arrogance. Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own competence or capabilities, especially when the person exhibiting it is in a position of power.

and looks where it is getting us...

couldnt give a fuck about them TBH

only care about rangers

and we are in mess

Don't think you have to 'give a fuck about them' in order to see the comparison.

Treated harshly, almost all their players left, dropped down to the 4th tier and had to claw their way back.
