Total Football

Surly we are in the perfect position to change our style of football for the better? Makes no sense to me playing the way we play...ok we get results but we should be in a position that we can play good football and get the results and once we are back in the top league we will be used to playing football properly and will play teams off the park.

Is it the case Ally is basically Walter but no where near as good? Ally seems to be unable to find himself nevermind manage others....I cant see how we'l progress if Ally does not start to become his own man.

I'd love for us to start a fresh and play some decent football.

Today was like watching a Sunday League team, it really was.

You'd accept the odd bad result if we played great football consistently.

It wasn't JUST the result today, it was the manner in which we lost.

When we sold Jelavic, McCoist made Grant Holt his no.1 signing target to replace him.

He signed Kevin Kyle & Fran Sandaza.

He is in talks to sign John Daly.

Maybe he should consider asking Duncan Ferguson out of retirement, or send scouts out to Basketball matches for someone suited lumping the ball up to.

I said at the start of the season that this was THE opportunity to change our ethos.

We were successful under Smith, but we had become known for very direct play which doesn't really have a place in today's game - tell me a team that play it long consistently who have won leagues/cups etc.

We haven't even scratched the surface. Once it became clear that playing at 30% would be enough to walk the league, it should been all about performances as results would have taken care of themselves. I see Ally coming out after today's game saying that he needs more players, it just indicates to me he's not really sure how to improve any of the current lot.

Totally agree Papa, we're missing the opportunity to totally change the way the club is run for the better for years to come.

Youth, training, skill, scouting out decent young players from the unknown.

My worry is, we are just going down the same route as before, especially if we bring back the likes of Boyd, Miller etc - which whilst would help boost us to the SPL, do we really want to be in the same position we were 4 years ago, in 4 years time?

Walter Smith papered over the cracks. There were some great results, and great displays, but also a lot of poor poor displays football wise.

Never mind total football....just playing decent football would be progress...I really question what goes on at training! I have spent alot of money this year in rangers including quite a bit on shares and nobody in the team seems to give a fuck! Why 8 months down the line can't we pass the ball or move to create space? Why have 3 of the best SPL players last year looked awful with us and why can't we learn to defend despite training full time? I just don't think our current coaching staff have the ability to implement anything close to a total football philosophy!

It is decision time for Rangers fans, do we persevere with Ally even though there has been absolutely no indication that he is close to being competent enough to do the job, or do we take a chance and bring in someone else and try and build something special

That's a point that a lot of the so called 'Ally out' people are making on a constant basis.

I think Ally's plan is to wait until we're back in the SPL and then buy a whole new team. There's no sign of improvement or that we're working to play better football. I'm upset by the whole situation. I'm not a happy customer.

He wont be here when we get back to the top league. We have really fucked up this season. This was the season for blooding the youngsters and building their confidence but no. Instead we have played wankers like Kyle, Sandaza, Shiels, Cribari, Black etc. All picked before the kids who are get bit parts here and there. And even then it is usually out of position.
