Relief or Satisfaction?

Even the most optimistic of us can't hide that this season has been a lot less than impressive on the pitch. Expectations at Rangers are always at the highest levels, despite what we went through and the sooner those past issues are no longer used as an excuse the better.

While this season will not go down as one of our best, by a long way, it will go down as a success. We still require 4 wins to clinch the League trophy, and we will get those wins. It might not be pretty but we will do what we have done for the majority of the season and battle through it to get the job done. We expect more than that, of course, that is what drives the desire to improve and better ourselves. It's what is required from Champions, to never exept just enough. Yes, we have better facilities, more resources but they mean fuck all on the football pitch as we have seen this season. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the heart in the dog that matters.

When we secure this League Title what will your emotions be?

Will you be relieved that the job is done and focus can turn onto making sure we are as prepared as possible for the future challenges we will face?

Or

Will you be satisfied that we have achieved a League triumph after the worst year in our Clubs long existence?

I will be happy when we secure the title and hopefully we can progress and move up the divisions.

We were always going to win this league tbh after we retained players like Wallace, Jig, Little, Alexander, Hutton while brining in SPL players too to help nuture the young boys coming through.

Many players at this club don't deserve to play at Ibrox imo and performances this season have proved this to be the case.

Both. But after that mess today, which was on the back of recent declining performances I am taking absolutely nothing for granted. If we win the league I'm now not even sure I'd call it a success. Never in all the time watching games under managers right back to Willie Waddell have seen such an utterly terrible performance as I saw today. Can it get worse? I hope not but nothing that the manager, coaches and team are doing these days gives me confidence. The opposite in fact. I'll probably reflect a bit more on this during the week but right now I'm pretty angry about performances from players who are capable of much much better than this, and of a manager who seems to be to be looking increasingly clueless about what to do.

Will just be glad to get this year and the transfer embargo over with and really move forward with rebuilding our team.

I'm feeling the same way. I'm not sure I'd even celebrate this league win now. I'd be happy to tick it off the list and just prepare myself for the challenges in the next installment in our rise back to the top.

Hopefully it's just down to the result and performance today and I can get my enthusiasm for this journey back.

I will be glad when we can say 'job done', this was always going to be a tough season, the business side of the club at to be rebuilt first. Next season I will be glad that our illegal sentence will be over and we can focus on rebuilding the team.

I am one of the most optimistic people on here and even i know it's not easy to watch some of the stuff Rangers have been serving up. I just honestly feel that everything that happened off field had had a HUGE bearing on the past 2 seasons, but i'll stay positive and i believe we will get better and i still believe that Ally will be the man to take us there. Time will tell on that matter i guess.

In the grand scheme of things, today's game was a scunner. Are we not forgetting something though? Annan came to Ibrox and from their point of view played a textbook away game. They challenged us for the ball very early on. They stacked the defence when required and tracked back well. They took away our time and space. They harried our midfield and defence and this produced the big punt often. We lost our way and a lot of the players were looking for someone else to do their job. When Annan broke up field they took their chances very well. No one would say they played us off the park, but they took what was given. Our team looks very jittery in defence when challenged, there is a lack of leadership in midfield, and the only one today who gave a solid shift was Andy Little. All this talk of playing players out of position and poor coaching, I don't know if it's an excuse or if it is worth any merit. I do think the players could be putting out more each shift, but I kind of get the feeling that they are like us - blow the whistle on this season and move on to next year.

Good thread mate, a vast improvement on the black/white 'Ally is shite'/'Leave Ally alone' stuff we usually get.

I think judgements and emotions are still a bit raw partly because there's a lot of uncertainty about reconstruction, etc. If we knew exactly what the route back to the top was we could settle down a bit more.

To answer your question, a bit of both. A lot of our fans demand instant success and quality, but we've been through a hell of a lot and this is a rebuilding process. Getting the first league win out of the way will be a big relief, but also a satisfied 'job done, let's move on' feeling.

Very mixed. So happy that we are still here and growing. But bitterly disappointed in the football. And the general direction on the park.

Prime example of how far of the pace we are.No Rangers scouts watching boys at Toryglen on Sundays, celtic have four.

I was trying to keep the manager debate out of this but Thermo had other ideas. ;)

Just crossed my mind after the game that the excitement of winning this league had slowly ebbed away and I was starting to feel it is becoming a relief to be done with this league and onto the next challenge.

Sorry about that ... just worried that the progress we have made may be undone if things continue as they are

Gotta agree mate,i have been going to games since the mid 70's and to be fair that must rank as the WORST performance at Ibrox. To be outpassed, outfought and outclassed by a side that were playing non league a few years back is just, well words fail me,i NEVER thought that our great club could sink as low as this, its been a cunt of a year, but my resolve just grows stronger in our time of need.WATP :21: :21: :21:

Words cannot express what this season means to me.

I understand why people are losing or have lost patience with Ally.

For me though - we almost became past tense.

That bastard Whyte is still walking - where's the UVF etc ? (not incitement to do anything but that cunt would have been shot 15 year ago, fact!)

We are top of the 3rd Division, alive and well, breaking records, AND our enemies are suffering!

Oh yeah the footballs gash but even that isn't stopping us!

TOP of the Division - Fuck everyone of our haters!

WATP!

Well said amigo.

Disgusted as i am about today, it cant be easy for anybody part of the Rangers set up, lets face it, they are not like us., we support rangers,i hate being called a fan, to me that is what i call most followers of the EPL teams down here. There is no justification i can put forward for today's shambles, so i wont even try to.But i just wonder on what terms players like Black, Sandaza,Templeton etc have been brought in under, what agreements have been made with them etc.

I really want young shiels to be a success, cracking player in my opinion, but he was really flourishing only when the young uns were in the side, playing with no fear, young fraser aird for me will be a rangers legend,as will mackay and macleod, seeing a lot of young uns get their chance and taking it has helped me ignore the pish that has been served up by the rest of the more "esteemed" squad players.

But if we had won the league by xmas, who would have been surprised, if we were winning every game by 6 goals, who would really be bothered?

One thing im thankful for from the poor performances is that ive managed to keep my deep ingrained fear that was installed in me a little over a year ago never ever to take Rangers for granted, the dross on the pitch has taught me that this is the start of the long road back to full health, ally must be fuckin dyin to go on holiday in a dark room for 2 weeks, none of us can truly understand the conditions he has worked under, got to give him next season , with some money, without the tax case and commision looming over him and the players, only then can i judge for sure.

As for CG, i back him, but some of the things coming out of the club recently, especially with statements regarding us, the support, are worrying me a lot, maybe its just me,maybe somebody can comment on that.

Ill celebrate the title whistling the billy boys and a fat spliff when i get off the plane, relieved that we survived to win another trophy...........and looking forward to the next one, as always.

Keep Believing.

No Surrender

Rab

Correct Gogzy, mentioned this to my son on the walk home today,i said he has seen the team get to a European Final, win three in a row,win the Scottish Cup,League Cup and win numerous old firm battles, all at the tender age of 13 years old.Fck remember the pre-Souness era, that was torture as well,so onwards and upwards, sometimes i think our younger fans have been spoiled to a degree...
