Jim Traynor responds to ASA probe

Rangers stands firm over "Scotland's most successful club" claim as

Rangers has maintained that it is "Scotland's most successful football club" as the advertising campaign making the claim is probed by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

Earlier, the ASA confirmed to The Drum that it was investigating the radio and press campaign following 62 complaints about the claim by the club to be Scotland's most successful club.

James Traynor, director of communications for Rangers was in no doubt of the club's stance when he responded to The Drum's request for a reaction to the investigation.

He stated: “Rangers Football Club can confirm they have responded in full to this ridiculous claim and we know the Advertising Standards Authority will take the same view as the football authorities, the European Club Association (ECA), Lord Nimmo Smith and the panel of the London Stock Exchange. For the avoidance of doubt we stress again Rangers FC is Scotland’s most successful football club.”

The campaign ran following the liquidation of Rangers, which led to the new holding company being formed as a result and buying the assets to the club, before being accepted into the Third Division by the Scottish Football League. This has led to consternation among fans with many claiming the club to be the same as before, while many claim otherwise (see the comments here for example.)

As a result of the complaints received, the ASA will now have to determine whether Rangers are entitled to describe themselves as "Scotland's most successful club" or not, which could lead to the campaign being banned from running again featuring the claim should they rule against the club.

Well if we cannot say we are Scotland's most successful club then CG should be looking for a refund as he has not bought the Club & Assets and Goodwill that he was believed to be buying.

Anyway, we all know this will come to nothing. The football club won the trophies, not the company.

The fact that our national press are not all over the story like a rash shows how infantile our national game has become.

The retards are actually doing us a favour, when the ASA confirm our status and our history they'll have to accept it.

You surely don't believe that do you? The pope or fuehrer lawell could tell them we didn't cheat and we are still the same club that has powered over them for 140 years and they would still cry and shout as loud as they could to try and disprove it! Obsessed and disturbed bunch of people!

Yes they won't accept it. But it will be something else we can ram down their throats!

Since many in the media are too scared to upset "them", the authorities which have to go on fact, will give us to response we deserve.

They really are doing us a favour!

Sad that we have to respond to this crap, its a circus and the freaks in the hoops are running the circus, i hope the ASA warns all the saddos for wasting their time when they could be banning the go compare adverts!

Hawking put him into a black hole and he came back with a dog dressed as a parcel.

ASA are powerless to that kInd of sorcery.

I would like to thank these 62 people for once again getting it confirmed that we are indeed the MOST successful team in the world. I do hope they remember to tell their fellow supporters this when they next use their Giro to visit paranoia paradise. :)

It's our subjective opinion which is in fact highly accurate.

They have their own subjective opinion when they claim to be the greatest fans blah blah blah.

That claim is all lies when you look at their fan behaviour (fans on pitch, refs attacked, support for Irish terrorism etc.) but again it's their subjective opinion and is allowed under the ASA code.

Essentially you can say anything you want but ours is fact while theirs is fiction.

They wont, they will insist that the ASA is being infultraited by freemasons and that theres links between ASA, 9/11, Isreal and CG.

They will continue to go through every avenue possible in the hopes that some Org says we aren't the same club and then cling to the verdict for as long as possible. They are really upset about the situation and personally I feel bad for their children and wives.

You honestly believe that? If the ASA ruled we were falsely advertising these obsessed cunts would love it. They'd hold thee ASA up there like a beacon of truth in a corrupt World. However, if the ASA confirm that Rangers are in fact the same Club the Celtic obsessed will rubbish this claim. They're NEVER going to accept what they don't want to hear.
