I disagree. I'll be on the train from Larkie that morning and heading to Gibson Street via Partick station. I'll be there to show solidarity towards fellow Rangers supporters (The Founders Trail guys) whose only crime is........er, nothing.

This isn't a turn-the-other-cheek moment jintybear (by-the-way, do you drink in Jinty's? :7325: ) as the streets of Glasgow are being ethnically cleansed of our community and this is just one more instance of it.

Nah the Music Room (never even drank in Jinty's when it was the Venue!!)!

It's because we've done nothing that I'm boycotting the event! I'm sick of being called bigoted by the real bigots! I know what you're saying tho!

To be fair to the Gala, you can't blame them. In all honesty, if anyone on RM was at the gala last year and saw a stall about celtic's history I have no doubts some of us would complain. Anything about the Old Firm polarises opinion and inflames passions and it is that which the gala wish to avoid. It is nothing personal. I have been to the gala the last two years and it is a good organisation. They are right. It doesn't fit with club football, even a historical account of a club as great as Rangers. Everyone should just chill and look at this with a bit of perspective.

My perception is that they have called either Rangers or the Founders Trail (they didn't specify which) bigots.

Not fucking acceptable. Your post is hmmmmm at best.

It has fuck all to do with perspective.

The Shifty's have to come back...........Are you the Gala Organiser?

It's not about anything to do whether the day is a good day out for the community or not. It's about defaming an organisation that wants to raise money for good causes.

Why is the post awful? In the STV article the gala come off with honesty and integrity. They never said the stall was bigoted, just that they didn't want any potential connections to bigotry which celtic, and sadly, Rangers have. It's not even a fucking story. Our siege mentality goes too far at times. Folks need to wind their necks in and look at issues a bit more dispassionately. That's only my opinion, I'm not asking anyone to subscribe to it. The founding father's stall has plenty of other, more suitable, venues to attend.

One of the founding fathers lived on the street where the gala is held. It doesn't really get much more suitable. Its just a stall that tells the story of how the club was started. There is no potential for any connections to bigotry of any kind. There is nothing about politics or religion involved. The stall has been removed because 4 people complained that it was bigoted. Basically they are 4 people who see anything involving Rangers and label it bigoted. The organizers can spin it any way they want but they removed it based on complaints from 4 people who can themselves be accurately described as bigots. And they have deprived two very worthy charities of revenue. And they have set a precedent by folding to bigots. They dont want any potential links to bigotry but they have no problem pandering to bigots.

Where is the defamation? We only have a second-hand account of that, only two or three people actually know what was said in that cafe and suddenly everyone is going nuts and firing off emails and letters to the gala, their MSP and Bishop Desmond Tutu! The gala themselves haven't said anything remotely illegal and have acted impeccably. Like I said, not even a fucking story. If the gala have defamed anyone then they should be held to account. Get the polis involved otherwise it is just keyboard warriors with nowt much else to do which doesn't reflect well on us. It is a free country, the gala have chosen not to go with the FFS. Simples. Let's move on.

I understand what you are saying but had the roles been reversed we would do the exact same and it is for that reason, the polarising of opinions and inflamed passions that the gala said, thanks, but no thanks. You can't really blame them.

4 people out of how many? About a stall that tells the story of a group of young men who just wanted to play football? No mention of the Queen or the Pope or the IRA or Celtic or Catholics or Protestants.

I actually cant believe you are suggesting that if a stall were to be opened up telling the story of how Celtic got started that there would be a clamour for it to be shut down. Where is your evidence for this? To my recollection it hasn't been us waging a decade long campaign of E-mails to officialdom, Irish parliments, the Vatican, Holyrood, The Whitehouse (ffs!!!) or this Gala. No its wasn't us who hounded the government into creating stupid laws about singing songs in football grounds.

In fact, there is nothing that we as a support have done, in this context, that would lead me to believe that if "it was the other way about" we would do the same.

No-one from our side has spent a decade combing the lives of everyone and anyone connected with Rangers, or referees or the SFA or the SPL.

There is not one reason to believe that this would be the case at all.

Four idiots complained about the stall. I'm sure we have four idiots in our own support. And for McColl, to say the stall has nothing to do with Rangers is laughable. How can he try to distance himself from the club. The FFS celebrates the founding of Rangers, you cannot separate the two. To try to is basically inane. There is team photo FFS! Can he really see hearts, aberdeen or dundee utd supporters clamouring for information about the FF. His stance makes it all look a bit stupid. Anyway, I have said enough on this matter. The opinions I have laid forth are the opinions of me and me only and are not connected in anyway to my management team or sponsors so please don't inundate them with complaints.

Who cares if any other supporters are interested in the info the stall has? Maybe people who are not supporters of other clubs, or are just not bigots may be interested.

Your last sentence is clearly meant in a mocking tone. I can only think of one reason why you would mock people trying to protect the legacy of the club and its founders.

Really? doh

Why did they not have a problem with the stall in previous years?

Read the article. Last year was the first year the FFS was at the gala. Get all the facts before you post otherwise you just look stupid.

So why did they not object to it last year then?

Did they not realise it was a Rangers related stall?

I know who is looking stupid here.

I can only assume (as I cannot see when you joined the site) that you are in some way involved with this gala, and are seeking to limit the negative publicity this has caused?

Also, you state they have behaved impeccably?

So if they refused a stall on the basis of 4 complaints who did not wish to see it there, then surely they will behave equally impeccably and reinstate it on the basis of considerably more complaints that it has been removed?

Look, why don't you read the STV article that is linked earlier in this thread. Then, maybe, just maybe, you can leave considered comments. If you read the article you will see why the FFS was permitted space last year and you will also see why there has been a reversal this year. Fucking keyboard warrior...go back to your porn sites.

Oh dear.

The internet may not be for you.

The STV piece contradicts the reason given to the FFS guys originally.

Which (IF YOU READ CORRECTLY) was that the gala should not be associating itself with a bigoted organisation.

Impeccable stuff indeed.

Anyway, I no doubt will receive another generic "keyboard warrior" nonsense reply from you which I will read at home as my shift is finished.

I suspect that their original reasons given to McColl were the same reasons given to STV. I doubt the gala said that FFS was mired in bigotry but it obviously suits McColl to make a rabble-rousing post in order to get the masses sending pointless and embarrassing emails. Where is the proof of defamation? There is none because there probably wasn't any. The reasons given are valid and impeccable, however unpalatable they are to some. If the gala had come out and said what McColl said they did then fine, you have a case. But they didn't. It is hearsay at best. In fact if anyone has a case it would be the gala for McColl accusing them of defamation. This was a non-event from the start, I have no idea why you all have your knickers in a twist. Emailing sponsors? Really? That is pathetic. It reflects badly upon all of us.

Yeah, i regret the keyboard porn warrior but the rest I stand by. This is a non-issue blown out of all proportion because of a few rabble-rousers and keyboard warriors that makes us all look bad. WTF bother the sponsors? Really?

.

So you decide to believe some no mark over a man and his colleagues who have for many years spent time and considerable effort in bringing this story to the wider world.

I know exactly who I believe in this story and its not some faceless chinless idiot who clearly has not one clue about the Founding Fathers. The link to Gibson Street is irrefutable and the later explanation released to the media came after a, generally, well conducted campaign by a number of members. How would Ian have known about the e-mails or phone calls if they weren't the reason? There was no need for them to be mentioned if the stall was 'not in keeping' with the event!

You seem to be suggesting that Ian is lying and your disdain is obvious. There may be a number of reasons for this but I suggest that you have a more than vested interest in peddling your 'opinion' here.

Why bother sponsors when gala organisers refuse to allow a Rangers charity stall on the basis of four complaints from rabids saying we are a bigoted organisation? I think sponsors have every right to know about such craven behaviour, don't you?
