SPL has already lost old firm game. There is no way they will want to lose Edinburgh derby as well. That will leave the Dundee derby as the flagship game!!

Hearts will be in SPL next season

I don't think the viewing figures were that great for this season's Edinburgh derbies anyway.

On BBC web site:

Hearts director Sergejus Fedotovas has confirmed to BBC Scotland that the club's parent company UBIG has asked to be declared insolvent.

And the potential impact on the club may include a points deduction which would lead to relegation.

Should Hearts be judged to have breached Scottish Premier League rules before the season ends, they would be deducted 17 points and finish bottom.

The SPL is taking legal advice on its rules surrounding insolvency matters.

This process will continue on Thursday evening before any formal statement is made.

Lithuanian investment company UBIG has been placed on a list of companies "unable to meet their obligations".

The list is published on the Lithuanian government's Enterprise Bankruptcy Management Department website.

UBIG and their sister company Ukio Bankas, which has collapsed with debts of £380m, own 79% of Hearts' shares.

Hearts owe £10m to UBIG and £15m to Ukio Bankas, who are in the process of challenging a bankruptcy order in Lithuania.

The SPL has been monitoring the situation, with some clubs having raised questions as to whether Hearts were in danger of being affected by an insolvency.

Hearts finish their season against Aberdeen on Saturday.

Obviously the SPL are looking at the Rules to see how else they can be interpreted than the way they treated us!

Your probably right, but Edinburgh is more appealing as a selling point than the Dundee derby.

If hearts go, then there are no real decent fixtures left.

No old firm, no Edinburgh derby, no beggars at tynecastle. No rangers at pittodrie.

Hearts are fucked.

They owe majority of their money to foreign parties who quite simply could not give a flying fook.

Tynecastle will be razed to the ground.

As it stands the Stadium is £15m. ANY buyer outwith someone who simply plans to demolish it must meet that minimum figure.

£15m+ to buy a skint club full of youth players with a -17 point starting position? No chance. Truly.

Even the thick Jambos have sussed it. They know.

As long as UBIG are declared insolvent before 20th May (very likely), Hearts will have a 17 point deduction and WILL be relegated.

The rule changes in the summer made it clear an insolvency event for a parent company is an insolvency event for the club. (England have similar rules, see Coventry and Southampton).

Easily the four biggest fixtures in the SPL last season. Doubt the Dundee derby would even come close.

It doesn't mate. But what would be the big game in the SPL then? Celtic v Aberdeen is a pathetic fixture as it inevitably turns into a tim pump fest, same can be said for Tims v hibs.

Dundee derby has a slight appeal because it is a derby game, but there is NO stand out fixtures at all if hearts go.

Could lose both. Dundee get relegated. Hearts get liquidated after season end and go to third. Leaving the Highland derby as the flagship event.

Here's the thing I cannot understand. Why is it not being mentioned that Dundee should still go down? When we were dropped out of the SPL, they still dropped Dunfermline and promoted Dundee instead - the same should happen when Hearts are bummed out, so Morton will go up.

Actually if hearts go tits up before monday then dundee stay up due to the points deduction for hearts. Depends on the all new made up rules.

If that happens then that means Dundee united will get a lifeline of keeping the Dundee derby, so fuck that. Any time after Monday hearts can die. (tu)

Aye it's to do with points rather than having a decision to take on basis of sporting integrity or whatever. 17/18 points would simply relegate them instead of Dundee.

Dundee is a team that's never really bothered me anyway tbh - would have liked them to stay over they junkie bastards St Mirren.

Just heard popcorn teeth saying he's sad to be losing the 3rd biggest team in Scotland from the spl after losing the 2nd biggest team to division 3 last year.

All the taigs will be lapping that shit up aswell, they'll forever be in our shadows, we will always be the biggest team in Scotland, this season alone has proved that

And as a result of the SPL rules, if Hearts win against Aberdeen they would be -16 points for the start of next season. If they lose they are only -15. Aberdeen are 11/8 to win.
